After much deliberation I have taken the decision to retire early from the police. I'll miss some of it but it is such a toxic environment, both from within and externally, I need to look after myself and family. Next chapter beckons.

I want to say a little more about Jimmy Carrβs abhorrent βjokeβ. First, the awful truth. Many hundreds of thousands of Roma and Sinti people were murdered by the Nazis during World War II, in what has become known to the victimsβ families as the Porrajmos (the βDevouringβ).

You donβt get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as βGesture Politicsβ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing weβre campaigning against, happens.
I am disgusted that @England players who have given so much for our country this summer have been subject to vile racist abuse on social media.
It has no place in our country and I back the police to hold those responsible accountable.
