They say the $ETH roadmap is too complex, so allow me to de-nerd it: The Merge: Don't kill Ethereum because AI is eating all the GPUs and mining is an issue, so now people stake it; it's good for the planet and efficient. The surge: Shit is fast, you don't need the "new solana" or the "new L2" because shit is fast. The scoorge: (Actually I think weakest part of the roadmap) The Vercel: Shit is light, wow you have a full node on your mac mini sitting next to your ai agent much wow very decentralized. The Purge: Weird nerd shit from a decade ago is getting cleaned up because the guy that wrote the yellow paper was high on LSD. The Splurge: Blockchain UX is amazing, one click to use protocols, all the benefits of nerd smartcontrats but native; shit is secure and simple. My wallet has a passkey with my Face ID on my iPhone, and it's as secure as Ledger that leak my data. I love blockchain wow Hope that was useful

Bitcoiners deserve a lot of credit for pioneering many of these ideas (see Utreexo). But yes, this is what the current proposed Ethereum scaling strategy looks like in action. We want Ethereum to have the best of UTXO-style state, dynamic state, and everything in between, allowing the great majority of Ethereum's activity to be hyperscaled without sacrifice to decentralization, ease of node running and censorship resistance. firefly.social/post/x/208898…

People are making two compounding mistakes when evaluating DeFi apps right now: 1) Market Size: People think they are targeting the $2 trillion crypto market when they are actually targeting the $500 trillion asset market. 2) Value Capture: People think they have maximized fee generation when they are actually just scratching the surface. These things -- Hyperliquid, Uniswap, Aave, Morpho, Aerodrome, Lighter, Pump, and more -- have bigger TAMs and more pricing power than people believe.

I've been in crypto for 8+ years. For the first time ever — substance has gotten ahead of price. It's happening. Crypto is going to update the system. Not done, but can't be stopped now. Bravo to the relentless teams in this space. Keep going.

🇮🇹JUST IN: The Bank of Italy tested 200 stablecoin remittances across 10 corridors and found they beat the global average cost in most of them. The bottleneck was not blockchain fees. It was fiat conversion and local payment rails. The study says stablecoin advantages would be "substantially higher" if they could be spent directly without converting back to fiat.

Go crypto: Excited about the $1T+ mega-IPOs? Don't. Total market cap of NASDAQ+NYSE = $69T. If each of Anthropic, SpaceX and OpenAI IPO at $2T, there isn't enough money in the whole market for each to do 10x. DYOR, not investment advice.

I've been in crypto since 2013, and can say with certainty that this is the worst period for the industry in terms of number of teams closing shop, leaving, running out of money and cutting costs (we ourselves did that a couple of months ago). Which makes me more hopeful than ever. With every past downturn we'd look around and say "the bright side is that some shit projects will finally get closed" but that hasn't happened. Till now. I'm not saying that the projects that are closing shop aren't good. That's not the case. Some are amazing and I'm really sorry to see them struggle and close. But for the next summer to bloom, there will need to be cuts. This is good for the industry. And where will the next wave of excitement come to crypto from? This is my thought and hope and what I'm working on. It's not going to be AI. It's not going to be Corpo stuff. It's freedom of financial innovation. That's what I'm working on and believe in and am excited about. What's your take?

💯@CryptoHayes - especially after bringing to life a trading agent and being able to then appreciate the bull*hit on tons of AI projects with no fundamentals. Eventually AI will be part of our everyday life, but it needs to go through its adoption curve, like crypto has already been doing.
Arthur Hayes thinks the AI bubble will lead to a Credit Event worse than 2008 "If we do get an AI credit event... it will be bigger than 2008.... and the Fed can't outprint Moore's Law If this thesis is correct, and you time this well... you'll never work again So what's the first response by the authorities to save the Banks? They're going to shovel money in... And all investor capital will rotate to Crypto"

At a conference this week with hundreds of financial advisors from all over the country. Here’s what they’re asking about: - Tokenization - Stablecoins - Vaults - Regulation They’re not asking: “Why is price down?” They’re focused on long-term mega trends and catalysts.

What's the biggest risk / problem for crypto right now? Global equity markets are ~$130 trillion Global fixed income ~$150 trillion Global real estate ~$300 trillion Gold ~$30 trillion Alts ~$30 trillion So +/- $640 trillion And crypto? $2 trillion. Less than Microsoft alone. Less than 1%. A blip in global capital markets. The biggest obstacle for crypto right now isn't Saylor selling 32 BTC, or DATs, or this L1 vs another, or some traders selling, etc etc. That's all deeply self-obsessed. Zoom out. The vast majority of investors aren't following any of that — ask a colleague or non-crypto native friend this week. It's obvious. Rather, the biggest obstacle is that, by default, no one cares. No one has to invest in anything, including crypto. This space needs to give people a reason to care, a reason to want to participate. It needs to prove use and value and build use cases that actually have an impact on the world. Help this space have a worthwhile impact, or support those that are trying. A rising tide will lift all ships.

🚨 DANNY RYAN: A NEW CLASS OF ETHEREUM COMPANIES IS FORMING ETH treasury companies won’t win by holding ETH. They’ll win by using it. DANNY: “Some will play the yield game. Some might blow up. But the real differentiation will be on-chain, DeFi, yield, and Ethereum utilization. The winners become on-chain asset managers.” TOMASZ STAŃCZAK: “Top quality teams using DeFi to generate returns, structured to be perpetual and safe.” 🔹 Competing on yield 🔹 Deploying ETH on-chain 🔹 Becoming asset managers TOMa LEE @fundstrat and @BitMNR are already moving in this direction. Ethereum is becoming the capital market. $ETH $BMNR
🚨 RYAN IS RIGHT: THIS GETS MUCH BIGGER WITH ETH 🔹 Native yield from staking 🔹 No need to engineer returns 🔹 Scales with ETH accumulation That’s the difference. Bitcoin needs structures like STRC to create yield. Ethereum already has it built in. If TOM LEE @fundstrat applied this model to ETH… It opens the door to a real credit market. ETH starts to look like digital gold that pays you. $ETH $BMNR

THEY DID IT. The SEC and CFTC just dropped a landmark document that officially classifies crypto assets. They're actually telling us which crypto assets are securities and which ones aren't - by name! THIS IS SOMETHING GENSLER REFUSED TO DO (he focused on prosecuting crypto out of existence) This rule doc gives crypto many of the benefits of the clarity bill - it lifts us out of the gray market - it gives every asset a path. It's almost like the Clarity act just passed by way of regulator. (of course, the actual clarity act will harden all this into legislation and make it irreversible in the event we get another Gensler, we still want it) This rule says there's 5 categories for crypto assets: 1) Digital Commodities - assets tied to a functional, decentralized crypto system (e.g., BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, ADA, DOGE). Not securities. (yes, they name them on page 14) 2) Digital Collectibles - NFTs, meme coins, artwork tokens, in-game items. Not securities (fractionalized collectibles may be an exception). 3) Digital Tools - membership tokens, credentials, domain names (e.g., ENS). Not securities. 4) Stablecoins - payment stablecoins under the GENIUS Act are not securities. Other stablecoins, it depends. 5) Digital Securities - tokenized versions of traditional securities. Like tokenized stocks. Always securities. Amazing! This makes so much sense I can't believe it's coming from a regulator. No more enforcement threats to Ethereum developers and crypto exchanges. How about the Howey test? More common sense! If an issuer makes specific promises of managerial efforts from which buyers expect profits, the offering is a security until those promises are fulfilled. Then it's a commodity. The asset itself was never the security, the deal around it was. (E.g. XRP was a security pre launch, became a commodity after). How about stuff like staking and mining? Mining? Not a securities transaction. Staking? Also not a securities transaction, that includes custodial and liquid staking even with LSTs! How about wrapping BTC? Not a securities transaction. Airdrops? NOT SECURITIES. NO MORE GEO BANS PROTECTING AMERICANS from free airdrops. Remember this is a joint doc from the SEC and CFTC, They're actually cooperating on this, no internal strife, this is binding to both. SEC regulates $80-100 trillion assets CFTC regulates $5-10 trillion assets Both of the world's largest capital markets are showing us that crypto assets are here to stay and they're welcome alongside traditional assets. Every country will follow. This is the biggest move toward legitimacy I've seen in all my time in crypto. Maybe bigger than the genius act since is covers all crypto assets. Well done @MichaelSelig and @SECPaulSAtkins. And especially well done to the indefatigable @HesterPeirce. Her fingerprints are all over this, couldn't have happened without her eight years of principles-based curiosity.

People don't care too much about decentralization, or trustlessness, or self-custody, until one day they realize they should actually care. A lot.
