And? Kids are picky eaters and aren't going to eat everything that's offered. But at least they have that option. I'm fine if some food gets wasted if it means another kid has a good meal.

Closing the FasTrak and 4 lanes on a Sunday morning is diabolical.

So you want credit and acknowledgement for the lunches?
Replying to @RikDaddy
The only problem I have with this is the word “free”. We have to stop saying “free”. Start saying “tax payer funded lunches”. When we say “free”, the economically illiterate think it’s magic and it just appears through divination rather than through my 60hrs/wk of taxable labor.

I grew up with friends that didn’t have lunch so I gave them part of mine whether I brought it from home or bought it at school. So I’ll always stand on the side that kids should get free lunches

Schools in California collect the food that children don't want and donate to food banks. Do you seriously think that schools make just enough food and there are no leftovers? A well fed child learns better than one that is hungry.

The government wastes a ton of money on pointless shit regardless so if some of that ends up getting kids fed then I would think that is a good thing, no?
Replying to @RikDaddy
U.S. schools generate an estimated 530,000 tons of food waste and 45 million gallons of milk waste each year, costing roughly $1.7 billion annually. Studies consistently show that 30% to 40% goes uneaten and ends up in the trash. And that's WITHOUT universal meals.

I should hope so. I’ve been pretty consistent about wanting to feed kids

Hello, I am Walker Kessler Muse’s sister. (Real name Mortimer McAllister) I am sorry to break the news. He passed away on Nov 7, surrounded by his loved ones. He is in a better and less painful place now. Thank you for being his friends and being a part of his life. Until you see him again, please take care.

Well, there is a serious issue with massive food waste when you do 100% free meals instead of tailoring it to just the number of kids that would actually eat it.

Stephen A. Smith PRESSES Abdul El-Sayed on Abolishing ICE — Then Gets a Firm Answer on Open Borders Stephen A. Smith: You’ve said the only way forward is to abolish ICE and start from scratch. What does that mean? Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: Let me be clear: I believe we ought to have a safe, secure southern border. I believe you ought to enforce immigration law, but not through masked men with AR-15s acting against the Constitution. ICE didn’t exist before this century. It’s not part of the Constitution. ICE is not about immigration. It’s about making a show of immigration and normalising paramilitary force on our streets. I believe we need to undo it and build a system that enforces immigration law while respecting the Constitution. Stephen A. Smith: Is there any condition under which you think open borders are acceptable? Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: No. You have to have borders that you can control. There’s no question about that. People think ICE is about border enforcement, but it’s not. Customs and Border Protection enforces the border. ICE handles immigration enforcement inside the country. I went to Minneapolis during the height of Project Metro Surge. Some of the things I saw, I never thought I would see in the United States of America. We can’t allow that to continue.
