On 28th Oct the SC in the Delhi SIR hearing suggested to ECI that they should consider allowing those who could not fill up the enumeration form (due to having shifted address or otherwise) should be allowed to fill it up even now & even from their shifted address. The ECI rejected this on the 4th & said that anyone now wanting to get back on the rolls, would have to fill up form 6 (for new voters) which obliges them to give a declaration that they have never voted before. The ECI said they would not be prosecuted, but they would get a new epic number, which meant that their entire previous voting history would be erased.
This recalcitrance of the ECI was mentioned to the SC on the 5th and a copy of our representation to the ECI was also sent to the other 2 ECs. Today, the ECI in an about turn has issued the order below, which accepts all the suggestions of the SC & virtually allows all deleted voters to get back to the voters list, with their old epic numbers. Was this volte face because the other 2 ECs pushed back on what Gyanesh Kumar wanted to do, or was it because of the fear of the SC?
In any case, this is a huge victory for the voters and those who were campaigning against this dishonest SIR exercise!

As the @ECISVEEP is forced to make U turns and clarifications every day the Supreme Court cannot escape scrutiny. Why did the apex court not restrain the @ECISVEEP ahead of the Bengal elections? Why did the learned judge say “those who can’t vote this time vote next time,” and why did the SC -the constitutional court-treat the constitutional right to vote in such a cavalier manner . @abhishekaitc gets it bang on : the buck for the collapse of India’s electoral system stops with the Supreme Court.

SIR के नाम पर करोड़ों नाम वोटर लिस्ट से काटे जा रहे हैं - रोका नहीं गया तो और भी काटे जाएंगे।
ज़्यादातर नाम किनके? जो BJP के ख़िलाफ़ आक्रोश में हैं।
वोटर लिस्ट एक निष्पक्ष चुनाव आयोग के हाथ में होनी चाहिए - मगर अब वो मोदी सरकार के कर्मचारी, ज्ञानेश कुमार के हाथ में है, जिसकी BJP के साथ मिलीभगत में वोट चोरी हमने सबूत के साथ पकड़ी है।
तैयारी है ऐसी लिस्ट बनाने की जिसमें बहुमत हमेशा BJP का हो - और अब वही लिस्ट तय करेगी कि आपको योजना का पैसा मिलेगा या नहीं।
कल जिसने भी ठाना कि BJP को हटाना है, तो चुन-चुन कर सबका नाम काटा जाएगा।
नाम कटा - वोट गया। वोट गया - हक़ गया।
और देखते ही देखते आप एक hijacked लोकतंत्र के अदृश्य नागरिक बन जाएंगे - जहां जनता सरकार नहीं चुनेगी, सरकार अपनी जनता चुनेगी।
आज पंचायती राज की योजनाएं। कल राशन? पेंशन? मनरेगा? आवास? छात्रवृत्ति? आरक्षण?
यह चुनाव जीतने की राजनीति नहीं, चुनाव चोरी का इंतज़ाम और सत्ता में बने रहने का स्थायी बंदोबस्त है।
वोट देना आपका अधिकार है, शर्त नहीं। किसी ग़रीब की पेंशन उसके वोटर कार्ड की ग़ुलाम नहीं हो सकती।
ये सिर्फ़ वोट चोरी नहीं - ये हक़ चोरी है।

Individuals named as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-appointed Booth Level Agents (BLAs), and listed as ‘objectors’ in at least 77% of the total 1,021 deletion applications filed so far in Delhi’s Mustafabad constituency, have largely denied any association with filing Form 7s as part of the continuing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the city.
The Hindu contacted all 20 BLAs registered with the BJP, according to the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) records, who are named as filing the 787 Form 7s, which cite reasons such as “absent/permanently shifted”, “already enrolled” and “death” to seek the deletion of electors’ names.

A Supreme Court petition over a minus 40 marks NEET PG cutoff — and still no explanation.
Instead of 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀, they simply 𝘀𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 the system from percentile-based to rank-based.
We demanded 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀. They gave us 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀.
We demanded 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀. They handed us 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗗.

Who will tell Chief Justice of India Surya Kant that no one is interested in "occupying" a site and sleep on the road "forever", especially when we live in such mehengai wale times?
That circumstances created by the government and the inaction, or rather, aid and abetment of judiciary sometimes ultimately forces a large number of people to finally come out on the street to protest?
That no one is interested in facing a brutal crackdown, despite knowing that the Court rarely comes to protesters' help or cracks the whip on government/police. And yet they do because that is the only way forward given that the government does not even bother to invite the protesters for a dialogue?
Chief Justice Kant and his bench's remarks reflect an ivory-tower mindset, detached from all reality, zero recognition of people's class and caste struggles, a failure to wake up and smell the coffee, and which will definitely not go down well with the people. If you see so many people willing to come out and protest despite grave risks, then try to understand why they are doing so, rather than trying to shoot them down with all these questions, remarks, and arbitrary imposition of rules. How many questions did this Bench ask of the government about Gyanu and ECI fraud? Exactly. That tells you the entire story.
To the government and state institutions I would say that if you don't want people to protest, then stop treating them like cockroaches and parasites and get the shit done for which you have been put in that position.
