On October 26, OpenAI announced an AI-generated proof that claims to refute the ETH. The research presents a deterministic subexponential-time algorithm for exactly counting the satisfying assignments of fixed-width Boolean formulas. If independently verified, this result would challenge a foundational assumption in computational complexity theory. Three things are worth paying attention to: 1. How should AI trading research actually be done? These 10 steps matter more than asking AI to predict whether the market will go up or down. 1. Start with a testable hypothesis Not I think it will go up, but a clear idea of what you want to study and validate. 2. Backtest with real data Historical data, market structure, and different timeframes should all be included. 3. Test parameter combinations systematically Compare different lookback periods, volatility targets, and rebalancing frequencies. 4. Turn strategies into executable signals Indicators are not conclusions, and signals are not trades. Position sizing, risk, and execution logic still matter. 5.
