Perhaps it’s time that we write about how the obsession of leadership in churches, though it began as a corrective, has begun to take on worship and weight that is undue. Instead of “Jesus and John Wayne”, how about “Jesus and John Maxwell”?

The main premise being this: beginning as an aid to pastors and clergy, what has developed is a leadership culture of pastors who are much more like CEOs, a “leadership-hermeneutic” to Scripture, and a success-obsessed ministry that MUST grow.
