Last summer, the World Cup reminded us that soccer can bring us together. In recent weeks, we have used soccer to pull college athletics and its soccer community apart. We deserve a better conversation. A view from inside the room: My thoughts on the future of D1 men's soccer.

Replying to @davejsports @NCAA
Nothing I said was “disrespectful.” And quite frankly if we are talking about respect it’s about time the NCAA treats the sport of soccer with the same respect it does with all other sports re: their student athletes. If you and @bsmolka take offense for me standing up for the nonsense (fake emails, fake projections of resources all done by non soccer people) then so be it. To think that this was done fairly then they pulled the wool over your eyes not mine. The only negative comments I got over the years from this plan were from non soccer people who didn’t care to really listen nor want to change. The university of Pitt is the prime example.

The NCAA confirmed last night that the two-semester model for D-1 men's soccer has been rescinded. A source alleged to GOAL.com that a lobbyist created an email account under a false identity, presented themselves as a "concerned parent" named Gustav & sent a message to administrators nationwide explaining how they could vote to rescind the proposal. 👇 goal.com/en-us/originals/men… #NCAA @NCAASoccer

If this is true, I believe you have some explaining to do @AGreeneIV
That "no" vote came from Pitt's Allen Greene. Big 12 also entirely abstained from voting for the proposal, causing it to come up short in the first DI Cabinet vote and entering the rescission process.

DEVELOPING STORY: Potential internal rift at Pitt highlighted as NCAA Men’s Soccer Two-Semester Model has been rescinded. Response from US Soccer community and supporters of Two-Semester Model has been immediate on Friday as D1 men’s soccer schedule reform just collapsed after 241+ schools voted to rescind. "We’re playing a 21st-century game with a 19th-century schedule." — @TaylorTwellman highlighting Pitt's Jay Vidovich quote on Pittsburgh Soccer Now. This is bad! Allen Greene inherited one of the best coaches in college soccer and an excellent program that was built against all odds. Can’t imagine what Jay Vidovich (a vocal supporter of 2 semester soccer and who just signed an extension this spring!) must have thought.

Told that a crucial surprise "no" vote from an ACC Athletic Director in an October meeting, without the knowledge of his MSOC head coach, dragged out the process. The committee was shocked. Had that AD voted "yes", the proposal would have been automatically implemented.

Committee approval. Cabinet review. Sent back for clarification. Committee reaffirmation. Cabinet approval. The flex model cleared multiple reviews and approvals. 95.5% of our players support it. Why are we still trying to stop it? It’s time to move forward.

Coach Pore and UMKC support the NCAA DI Men's Soccer Redistribution Model. It would align into two seasons that would give more rest, better academics and training.
