He also “real codes”, so maybe I’m in the clear

Years ago I worked with two political newsletters. One far right. One far left. Because they were both classified as "political, the recommendation algorithm matched them to recommend each other... 😬 As you can imagine, neither audience wanted anything to do with the other. Just because two newsletters are in the same category doesn't mean they serve the same audience. Whether it's recommendations, swaps, or cross-promos, pick your partners on purpose. And don't be afraid to archive the bad fits.

When something needs to go to a segment of your list, what's your default? Send a broadcast, or build an automation? My rule: if it happens once, just send it. If it keeps happening, automate it.

I almost deleted one of my most loyal readers. My re-engagement email told him that he hadn't opened anything in six months. He replied, "No, I read everything." His email app "Hey" was blocking the open tracking. Don't clean your list on opens alone. Make sure to look at clicks and replies too. Then tag them so you don't accidentally delete them in the future.

I put a five-minute delay at the start of almost every Kit automation. Custom fields fill in, integrations catch up, and your conditions actually work like you planned. Sometimes it takes a minute for the water to run through the pipes.

If 15% of your list "opens" an email within seconds of sending, those aren't people. They're machines. Take that number off your final open rate. Your 60% is probably closer to 45.

Perfect! Glad to hear this.
Hot take: 41 is the perfect age for men. You're not so old that the end seems near but you're still strong and full of energy. And you've learned enough in 20+ years of adulthood to be only kinda stupid.

A couple weeks back i was walking along a path when i heard this crunching sound behind me.I turned around and I saw a baby moose right behind me... My first thought was, “oh crap, where’s mama.” So I just kept walking away slowly. When I got to my car I turned to check on baby, and mama had come out of the bushes and was standing with her head down ready to charge 😬 I walked back the long way around them and let them hang out as long as they wanted. No reason to start a fight I couldn't win Mamas and babies...don't mess with them.

After using Grok @bot the past few days, going back to Claude feels like using dial up.

I'm surprised at how simple Grok @bot has been so set up compared to other tools. It honestly feels like working with a person instead of a robot.

Whenever I get the urge to buy a new phone, I buy a new phone case for the one I already have. Saves quite a bit of cash and keeps me from always chasing the new thing. (But this is pretty awesome and I may wait for v2 next year)

This morning's newsletter edition is out, and it's the one shift that means you'll never dread building (or rebuilding) a Kit automation again. You know that giant, sprawling automation you're too afraid to touch? This is how you make sure you never build another one. Inside I break down the exact approach, plus the real rebuild I walked a client through on a single one-hour call. It's part 2 of a 4-part series. Read this one and you'll be watching for part 3 next Friday. Then tell me below...what's the one automation in YOUR account you're afraid to touch?

Just wait until you have 7
Having 3 kids creates some unusual challenges. Like, I have to set a reminder to drink water or will literally dehydrate. Fun stuff!

Some of us drive Jeeps, like the least intelligent animals. But, at least it’s fun
I drove my non-Tesla to work yesterday. I had to use the steering wheel, turn signals, and gas/break pedal…like an animal.

This is why Americans struggle to get into soccer. A final score of 0-0 and somehow the neutral country wins? Is that why they won, because they’re neutral?

Incredible
Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
