Exclusive: former prime minister Gordon Brown has written to the Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley calling for a second criminal phone-hacking investigation into News Group Newspapers, namely into the alleged “destruction of evidence by the organisation and the cover up that followed” (see attached). News Group Newspapers, owner of the Sun and previous owner of the defunct News of the World, said “Mr Brown’s allegations are unfounded and wrong” and “they are denied by NGN in a detailed defence for the court”
