Randomly came across a NextDoor post asking whoever's been feeding the corvids and squirrels peanuts to please stop because they're leaving shells all over the neighborhood, but I will never stop.

Today I turn 88…I’ve seen some serious shit. The most serious of it all is love. I love my family, my friends, and my wonderful fans. The power of love remains.
This is why we need to expand care from the nuclear family and socialize it as a public good
you were fortunate to have someone to drive you to this facility.
without a close caretaker--who really cares for us--it is near-impossible to deal with a health crisis.
US government blithely assumes, or pretends to assume, that every citizen is surrounded by a network of volunteer "caretakers." if you need to be driven to the hospital for tests & wait with you for hours for the results, OF COURSE there is someone. that's the pretense.
even AI will assume: "have someone spend the night with you to insure that you are all right."

NAOMI KLIEIN to SAM ALTMAN:
"...you ingested the entire written output of human civilization without consent, without compensation and without credit to build a system whose primary commercial application is eliminating the jobs of the people whose work you consumed.
You are not 'liberating human creativity' -- you are strip-mining it and selling it back at a markup while calling the theft 'training data'."

He told our @DashaBurns that there needs to be “rules and guardrails” around AI but said that slowing down is an “impossible endeavor.”👇🧵

Shostakovich enjoyed Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar so much he saw it twice on consecutive nights on a trip to London in 1972, confessing that but for Stalin he might well have written something like this himself. Imagine a Shostakovich version of Cats...

For those who haven’t read it, Chapter 13 of Project 2025 was literally about reshaping the way our food system is regulated, including cutting safety-net programs and rolling back regulations and protections related to food production.
At the time, many people warned that these changes could make food less accessible, less affordable, and less safe for vulnerable Americans.
And yet, we were told we were being dramatic. That Project 2025 was being misunderstood. That people were overreacting.
We weren’t overreacting. We were warning you.
