Whoa, Alice in Glam…
Hard to believe the band behind "Man in the Box" and Dirt once looked like this. Before Alice in Chains, the same four musicians, Cantrell, Staley, Starr, Kinney, were a glam act called Diamond Lie. Here they are in 1988, all hairspray and party-rock, playing "I Can't Have You."

The Art of Shredding…
On This Day in Metal September 15, 1990 Pantera played a historic live set at the Foundations Forum convention at the Sheraton Plaza La Reina Hotel in Los Angeles, California. It was the first year the convention opened to the public, around 4,000 metalheads showed up—and Pantera brought the HEAT! Check out Pantera performing “The Art of Shredding”! #ThisDayInMetal #Pantera #FoundationsForum #HeavyMetal #Metal

Classic Power Chords!
"Terri Lee, lead vocals." "Diamond Darrell, lead guitar." "Rex Rocker." "Vinnie Paul, skin-basher." Glam-era Pantera introducing themselves, years before they dropped the hairspray, replaced Glaze with Anselmo, and got heavy.

Amazing performance!
Jake E. Lee's very first show with Ozzy was at the US Festival in 1983, in front of 350,000 people. He'd had to learn Randy Rhoads' parts, including "Crazy Train," to take a gig that had belonged to a legend. Here he is playing it.

Classic Power Chords!
In 1968, a blues band called Earth played their first gig upstairs at The Crown, a pub in Birmingham. A year later they became Black Sabbath. Today that pub is a protected historic landmark, and the stage is still there. This demo, “The Rebel,” is what Earth sounded like.
