Art belongs to everybody. Proud to celebrate four new murals with @TheBreakfasKlub, Inanimate Nature Studios, and @PeopleForFdn These works remind us that our voices matter and our democracy is strongest when everyone participates. Remember: Early voting for the November 3 election runs through October 30.

Proud to join APWU Houston Area Local 185 for its annual membership picnic. Postal workers keep our communities connected, and they deserve fair wages, safe working conditions, and a strong voice on the job. I’ll always stand with organized labor and working families.

Today, we unveiled a mural honoring Lorenzo Salgado Araujo—a husband, father of three, and beloved member of our Houston community. His memory will live on in this artwork, a powerful reminder that our community will not be silent in the face of injustice. We stand with his family in their fight for truth and accountability.

Today, I had the privilege of speaking at the dedication for the John S. Chase Architecture and Planning Library at my alma mater, UT Austin. I can’t think of a better way to honor John than to give another generation the chance to discover what he helped me see all those years ago: a world of possibilities.

📞🚨 Crisis? Not quite. 😂 @kendrick38 called me with an urgent question: If your voter registration status is listed as “suspense,” does that mean you can’t vote? The answer is NO. Being on the suspense list generally means you need to confirm your address. You can still vote, but you may need to complete an additional form at the polls. 🗳️ Early Voting: October 19–30 📅 Election Day: November 3 Don’t panic. Know your rights, make a plan, and use your voice. 📲 Get election information at HarrisVotes.com or call 713-755-6965.

This is irresponsible. It would leave local governments and Harris County taxpayers on the hook to foot even more of the bill when climate disasters strike. We need FEMA fully staffed and funded to support our communities through future recovery efforts.
EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration’s disaster chief told state officials they must increase their financial reserves and emergency capabilities to handle most disasters on their own, without federal help. politico.com/news/2026/10/20…

To the residents and advocates who have raised concerns: I hear you. My office does not operate any Flock cameras or other automated license plate readers (APLRs), but we are all affected by how this technology is used and who can access its data. That’s why I led the Court to take action today, and I’ll keep pressing for real limits, oversight, and accountability.

Public officials across our county have a responsibility to make sure this mass surveillance technology does not put our constituents in danger.

Public safety and privacy are not mutually exclusive. Every Harris County resident is affected by how this technology is used and who has access to the data it collects.

ICE's behavior is appalling and another alarming example of reckless conduct that puts our community’s safety at risk.
Family members and community advocates gathered in west Houston to demand answers and call for Miguel Parra-Hernandez’s release from ICE custody after he was struck by an ICE vehicle during an enforcement operation. houstonchronicle.com/news/ho…

I join my colleagues and members of the community in calling on ICE and all federal authorities to cooperate fully with Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and District Attorney Sean Teare and immediately provide all relevant evidence for their ongoing independent investigation.

We stand with Mr. Parra-Hernandez, his family, and the broader community, and wish for his full recovery as we continue demanding transparency, safety, and accountability.

Proud to support Dr. Letitia Plummer for County Judge and Darrell Jordan for District Clerk at a reception hosted by Yousof Allam and Wisam Nahhas. Abbott wants Harris County red, and outside billionaires are ready to spend millions. Our answer: ORGANIZE, MOBILIZE & VOTE! 🗳️ #GOTV

Today, I celebrated the life of my friend, mentor, and big brother, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, on what would have been his 85th birthday. Rev. Jackson taught generations of us to fight for justice, stand with working people, protect voting rights, and never lose faith in the possibility of a better America. While we deeply miss him since his passing on February 17, I am grateful for the friendship, wisdom, laughter, and lessons he gave us. Happy 85th Birthday, Rev. Jackson. 🕊️✊🏾❤️
