Losing 3-1 to Nottingham Forest is not the kind of result you expect from Manchester City. And I’m going to say something that might upset a lot of people. Since Pep Guardiola left, this team has completely lost its identity. I don’t recognise the Manchester City I joined anymore. Under Pep, even when we were losing, you could understand what we were trying to do. Everybody knew their responsibilities. Everybody understood the system. Sometimes I find myself running into spaces where nobody is looking to pass the ball. Sometimes I make three different runs, and the ball never comes. And when we lose possession, everybody starts looking at each other. This is not Manchester City. We cannot keep pretending everything is fine because we have talented players. Talent without organisation means nothing. And honestly, I don’t think Maresca is the right man for this job. I respect him as a manager, but Manchester City is not Chelsea. You cannot come here and expect everything to work simply because you have your own football philosophy. We have players who have won everything. We have players who understand what it means to compete for the Premier League and Champions League. But right now, we’re making ordinary teams look like world champions. Nottingham Forest came here and scored three goals. Three goals! And people still expect us to talk about winning trophies? I’m tired of hearing that we need more time. How much time does a club like Manchester City need to understand how to play football? Pep built something special here, and I honestly believe we are destroying that identity. I’m a striker. My job is to score goals. But even I cannot keep saving a team that doesn’t know how to control a football match. And let me make this clear: I didn’t join Manchester City to spend my best years rebuilding a team that was already at the top of the world. If Maresca cannot bring back the Manchester City identity, then maybe we need to accept that he was never the right replacement for Pep Guardiola. I know City fans will be angry with me, but perhaps they should be angry about what they’re watching instead.”
