When I start with the melody and verses and build up, I can hardly ever come up with an appropriate drop. I have so many dropless songs just waiting around for something. If I start with the drop, and work around it, it always feels more cohesive overall

What if, instead of trying to “go analogue” or fully quit technology, you forced yourself back to 2008 levels of it? Phones existed, but they weren’t addictive brain-rot machines. Social media, YouTube and online gaming existed too, but only when you were actually at a computer. That physical limitation forced you to leave the screen behind all the time. A lot of people can’t just “go offline” now. You need email, messaging, work apps, social media, all of it. So maybe the answer isn’t cutting it out totally. I’m wondering if it’s just removing the smartphone. 🤔 Keep a computer or laptop at home for everything online, but remove its 24/7 access to YOU - on the bus, in a queue, at work, in bed, everywhere. You’d still have the internet. You just wouldn’t carry it in your pocket all day. That was basically 2008, and I think we were healthier for it.

Nearly everyone unanimously agrees something isn’t good about the trajectory of smart-tech, social media, AI, etc. But we’re also collectively so addicted we can’t escape.

There are certain people who are just on such a higher plane of coolness that I could never even begin to reach it. Skrillex is one of those people.

I made the weirdest song today. I’m enjoying just not putting myself in a box but I cannot see this ever being released 😂
