8 Billion people on earth: *file.mp4* That one guy in Missouri:
Valve looks like it’s adding support for CD-ROM drives to the Steam Frame. A Steam Frame user asked why he couldn’t connect a detachable disc drive to watch movies on the go. A Valve dev replied that they “will would look into it.” Just a few days later, Valve developer Gabe Rowe added CD-ROM support to the Steam Frame’s software. This could eventually let you connect a USB disc drive, read physical CDs, and potentially watch movies from discs on the Steam Frame.

The throngs were based on a game called "Creatures" released in 1996. The Creatures in this game are called Norns, and their AI are built on neural nets which the user could influence by rewarding or punishing certain behaviours. the goal of the game was keeping your norn alive, and exploring the world with them. you could also breed norns as there was an underlying genetic trait system to expressed qualities that can also be passed on to offspring. There are stories of people torturing their Norns, these people would even end up receiving threats for their behaviour. and later on a pro-norn group got founded by Joseph Fowler called the ERFN ended up overshadowing the anti-norn group. and yes, all that did really happen: creatures.fandom.com/wiki/Eq…

It's kind of like how stickfish (chess AI) plays in a way no human would, as well as alphaGO. AI simply has a dufferent 'perspective' altogether and doesn't 'see' things the same way a human brain does. AI mimics us because it is trained on data produced by use, but fundamentally it's completely different. (Obviously)
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: "I don't even know a dramatic enough word to use… models can find bugs that are outside of the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do… hardware-level, insane stuff… I no longer think we're gonna be able to just patch all the bugs." It's over.

All the great studio's are dying: - Bioware - Double Fine - Arkane - Eidos Montreal - Respawn Entertainment - Red Storm Entertainment - Monolith Productions - Free Radical Design Meanwhile slop cannons like EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft (activision, blizzard) are doing just fine exploiting players with Live service loot box gambling addiction simulators and dark patterns. I love the game industry

Seems like it was pretty far in, also seemed like a return to form. What a shame.

🚀 We’re thrilled to announce the release of Lucky Engine 2026.3! "The Matrix for Robots" is now 100% Agentic 🤖✨ To train autonomy, you need a "Matrix" a virtual playground where they can learn before touching the physical world. Today, we are dropping Lucky Engine 2026.3, and we think that it redefines how synthetic environments are built. • Real-time ray tracing & path tracing • 100% agentic (AI agents fully control the engine) • Upload a photo → instant data generation for your policies • Graph-based procedural generation, AI generated determinism • No Blender required. Here’s what’s inside 🧵 👇

Compiling TS to native is cool, but what if plain TS can be as fast as native

This was possible 16 years ago, DAW's can be bridged into other daws, used long time ago to get Reason racks in FL

this is a drop in replacement btw: "On this app, compared to TS 5.9.3 median full type-check time fell from 7.19 s to 1.08 s, and unchanged incremental checks fell from 2.29 s to 0.81 s. That’s about 6.7× and 2.8× faster." except... the official release is even faster....
New from Vercel Labs: tsc-ts TypeScript was written in TypeScript Then rewritten in Go We ported it back to TypeScript Compiled it with scriptc And it's 2-4x faster than tsgo
