Wise people ask themselves three questions:
1) What outcome do I want?
2) What work do I need to do to achieve the outcome?
3) What events and situations will I need to navigate along the way?

Change your habits…change your path
1. Breakfast everyday- start getting calories in early
2. Prioritize sleep
3. Hydrate as soon as you wake up and carry h2o everywhere you go.
These basics are low hanging fruit for athletes but have the power to create change

Many may not want to hear this but it’s 💯 % the athlete’s responsibility to ensure they are fueling, hydrating, and sleeping properly heading into game day.
No one can force anyone to do anything.
We are each responsible for controlling our controllables.
There’s so many athletes given every resource and tool but often they don’t use those tools or apply them consistently.
The lack of follow through in
Nutrition, Recovery, Sleep and Hydration WILL eventually catch up with an athlete.
Failing to fuel and take care of the body will eventually impair performance, Injury and illness risk, muscle and bone density, and overall training adjustments.
If you’re a student-athlete wanting to compete at the next level in college or go pro you should leave absolutely nothing up to chance. Take care of your controllables! – at Nashville, TN

It feels like you’ll never get your chance.
It feels like the moment will never come.
Train for it.
Prepare for it.
Treat every tiny opportunity like the biggest.
You’ll either grow it from the ground, or it will feel like it popped out of nowhere.

A great culture is demanding. It sets standards and doesn’t settle for average. This is true for a business, a school, or a sports team.

Your life is a journey.
There are paths to choose.
Bridges to cross.
Mountains to climb.
Deserts to endure.
Storms to survive.
There is treasure to be found and dragons that must be slain.
You will win some battles and lose some battles.
Some people will help you, others will criticize.
It is your journey. Embrace it. Persevere. Stand firm.
Never, ever give up.

The unspoken reality of leadership I’ve shared for a decade in every staff and locker room I’ve spoken to.
No one wants to say because it:
• It doesn’t sell books
• It’s not “positive”
• It’s scares people
So instead they repeat old cliches and quotes from the latest best-seller. All fluff disconnected from the reality of leadership on the ground.
Among the lessons on leadership Kirby Smart learned this summer is something no one really talks about - The Cost of Leadership

I recently shared a quote brought to my attention by my friend @DuncanFrench
It gets the heart of the responsibility and cost of leadership.
It reminded me of President Theodore Roosevelt's quote "The Man in the Arena", one of my favorites.

Lots of people have the ambition.
Few have the patience for the process.
Even fewer have the resiliency to stick with the process for years and decades.
It’s a daily choice to choose the process over temporary pleasure.
It’s your dream.
No one else can do it for you.

Players who reach ≥95% of their max speed in at least one effort per week are less likely to experience muscle injuries compared to those who reach ≤85%.
Sprint training should be used as an injury prevention tool.
