In 1979, Allan Evangelista was one of the first children in the Philippines to receive a polio vaccine during our immunization campaign. Today, that effort has grown into a global movement that has reduced polio cases by 99.9% ♥️ This #WorldPolioDay, let's #EndPolio for good: on.rotary.org/4i1T2ZD

What will it take to #EndPolio? Senior health leaders at #EMRC73 share their answers, and their tribute to the people working every day to get us there. Different voices, one shared goal: a world free from polio.
What will it take to #EndPolio? And how would you describe the people working tirelessly to make it happen? We asked health leaders and partners at #EMRC73 to answer both questions in just a few words. Different voices, one shared goal: a world free from polio. #Partners4Health

#EMRC73 showed Member States' determination to finish the job - from countries that are still endemic or experiencing outbreaks, to those that provide steady leadership, including Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. One thing is clear: Reaching every child is the only way to #EndPolio everywhere.
At #EMRC73, I was encouraged by the strong commitment of Member States to finishing the job of polio eradication. We know where the challenges remain. In Afghanistan and Pakistan, we must intensify efforts to reach children who continue to be missed, improve campaign quality and strengthen cross-border cooperation. Across the Region, we must also remain vigilant against variant poliovirus outbreaks. I am particularly grateful to Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for their continued political, technical and financial support. Their leadership and engagement are helping us overcome barriers and reach communities that have been difficult to access. As I reminded colleagues today, nobody is done until we are all done. Sustained political will, strong surveillance and continued investment in frontline health workers will be essential. The @WHOEMRO Region holds the key to global polio eradication. With our collective determination, we can – and we will – finish the job. #EndPolio

The first Rotary International polio immunization project occurred in the Philippines in 1979—and we're still working to eradicate polio today. Archivists play a crucial role in preserving the stories of yesterday that inspire us to take action today. #EndPolio #WorldPolioDay
