“Our study also suggests that the removal of the 4-hour standard does not impact all patients equally”
Children and Young people are likely to be disproportionately affected by changes in standards and important this is considered in any national change in U&EC metrics – at East Midlands, England

"Lifting the 4-hour access standard reporting was associated with a drop in short-stay admissions to the hospital. However, it was also associated with an increase in the average length of stay in the ED"

Invasive group A step still at higher upper levels of normal.
Going to be interesting to see what this winter brings.
Think will need a clear action plan for rising cases in October/November which balances caution without inducing unnecessary concern.

Thank you to those who looked out for me & bigger thanks to those who are constantly looking out for each other.

Glycolic acid will be measured as lactate by most point of care machines.
Rising lactate in an intoxicated child with no obvious cause?
Think Ethylene glycol poisoning

Child not brought to clinic? It costs a family £31 on average to attend a hospital appointment. Maybe your patient's carers chose to feed their household that week. Why aren't we doing more to facilitate attendance, asks @Simonkenny14?

We have failed to protect kids by not investing in cleaner air in schools - progress is glacial.
We have failed to protect kids by removing mask requirements.
We have failed to protect kids by not even allowing the option of 5-11 yr vaccine for most kids. 4/5

What does "I don't do palliative care" mean?
1. I don't do communication?
2. I don't want to coordinate care?
3. I don't do person-centered care?
4. I don't care for anyone with progressive life-limiting illness?
How is it acceptable for doctors to claim this?

The Health & Care Bill is back in the Commons tmrw.
It divides the NHS into 42 areas led by Integrated Care Boards which - incredibly - private companies will be allowed to sit on.
I believe private companies should *never* get a say in how the NHS is run.
Pls RT if you do too
