THIS!
Designing with AI doesn't make bad designers good. It's actually making the already good designers really, really good, and leaving everyone else exactly where they were. Still not good at design and it’s even more noticeable now.

Following the UX job market, and sharing finds that look interesting. @academyuxdesign October Heat Score: 74, warm. Brooklyn design recruiting, one of the few regular reads on this. (cc @AdamPerlis) Product Design ~20.7k, up over 3 months. Layoffs still arrive in spikes. Design hiring looks stable. That does not match design-is-dying.

I love it that only now you relate to Ani, but some of us have been living in his new empire since we were kids

"I'm a designer and I don't use Figma anymore" Every third post right now. For me @Figma as a design tool has been irrelevant for a long time. I design in code. For collab on HTML artifacts and preview links I use @inflight (@ridd_design and @designertom). Weird to watch this get loud when I've been in that mode for ages.

Should I also make a post about not using Figma anymore?

Office gossip reimagined
We’ve raised $1.3M from YC & Afore Capital so you never have to type or speak again. Typing is slow. Talking into your computer is awkward. Subvocal fixes both Our glasses give you the speed of speech without you making a sound or touching a keyboard. It tracks your internal speech muscles with non-contact sensing and decodes silent, almost invisible mouthing into text at more than 200 words/min. Pre-orders are now live at: subvocal.co/preorder?utm_sou…

That idea I've been trying to develop since? It's a tiny pixel version of me on the coming soon page. What's live now is only the start. I want him walking the bottom of the page, acting out what you're reading. Later, someone you can actually talk to. A little scene library too: laptop burning tokens, hammock to chill, and a grill to let him cook. Not decoration. More like the site's narrator.
The design world is changing, so I decided to build a portfolio that reflects it. I wanted my brand and portfolio to feel like me, not like another clean portfolio template. I started looking for portfolio and brand inspiration online and found nothing exciting that matched me and my path. Until three months ago - two things changed that for me: I started seeing pixel art everywhere, and I found one site showing a small designer at his digital desk and I was able to chat with him. It sparked an idea I've been trying to develop since.

I shipped the coming soon page before the actual portfolio. There's a tiny pixel me living on it. You can grab him and throw him across the screen. I'm still building the actual portfolio. Some days it goes well and some days we're both having a mental breakdown.

Design is dead Designers are not ;) Love this so much!
Hi, it's Darshita. I am a designer. And I'm pitching myself in public 'cause I'm done with a year full of anxiety. Everyone says design is dead and AI killed it. But the real parasite was hiding in plain sight. So here's my film, DESIGN IS DEAD. She's bold, fearless and very PINK 💖 Hiring? My DMs are open.

All of you designing Tesla Roadsters games for virality I can’t decide if I want my game design to be cute or evil 😅

some people in this space are so cool and inspiring 🫶
I just spent six months interviewing, and man, I’ve got some stories that would change how you see a lot of companies out there. Instead I channel the rejection trauma into Claude tokens, and turn it into stuff like tol.is/plinthos
