Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls.
That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching.
I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee.
Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

I may have mentioned once or twice how fucked Oracle is and how happy I will be to see the Ellisons suffer.
Burn.
BREAKING: Oracle stock, $ORCL, falls over -5% after announcing plans to raise $20 billion through equity and debt issuances to fund its AI buildout.
The stock is now down -54% from this year's high.

Lots of factors for the NTSB to sort out, but it is apparent that N722BD flew directly into an intense convective core with rapid vertical growth.
The aircraft likely succumbed to rapid icing while also encountering severe turbulence.

I am an immigrant, a scientist, a former White House official - and an American.
It is infuriating to spend years working to improve people’s lives only to watch elected leaders undermine the science, institutions, and rights that make that work possible. To watch them push conspiracy theories and actively work against people who have dedicated their careers to helping others.
We should expect more from the people we put in power. Competence, decency, respect. For people and for evidence.
Voting is how we can change course. Please vote in the midterms.
If your VERY FIRST reaction to watching a horrific Learjet crash is “That looks fake,” “It was a missile,” or “Where’s the debris?” then congratulations. You’ve just identified yourself as the perfect mark for every conspiracy grifter on the internet.
It’s the same breathtaking stupidity that gave us the 9/11 Pentagon “missile” and “missing debris” conspiracy theories.
A horrific tragedy unfolds before your eyes, and before you know a single fact, your first instinct is to invent a conspiracy. STFU & GTFO!
You’re not “just asking questions.” You’re broadcasting your ignorance, your gullibility, and your complete inability to distinguish evidence from bullshit.
And the people exploiting these tragedies know EXACTLY who you are. They know how to manipulate you, outrage you, and keep you coming back for another helping of manufactured mystery.
They turn human suffering into conspiracy content, and you eagerly spread it for them.
You think you’re exposing a cover-up. You’re actually exposing how easily you can be played.
The grifters have a product. You’re the customer.

Why should a journalist NOT tell the people the truth that is right before them, @MbalulaFikile? Johannesburg has collpsed! What is bad are politicians trying to lie about it.

Johannesburg is in ruins and senior ANC leaders want to spend their time on here going after me for daring to ask people to “vote wisely”.
That tells you everything you need to know about how we got here.

Johannesburg gets hijacked buildings while Cape Town gets new skyscrapers 😭
Cape Town’s Foreshore is getting a tall new neighbour with 94 apartments, 7 penthouses and a 5-star hotel with 155 hotel rooms valued at R2.5 billion😮🏙️
Senzo Tsabedze, founder and executive chairman of Afrirent Holdings, secured a long-term lease of the 1680m2 site from the City of Cape Town in 2024. The 35-storey mixed-use building will sit snugly right next to the CTICC 2 in Cape Town. Construction is set to begin in April next year.
Afrirent Holdings is putting R2.5 billion of private money into it, with the City of Cape Town backing the project.
Development Details:
• Development name: ThirtyFour18 (named after the building’s geographic coordinates)
• Developer: Indalo Hotels and Leisure Group (subsidiary of Afrirent Holdings)
• Location: Heerengracht Street, Foreshore, in front of CTICC 2
• Development mix: 94 apartments, 7 penthouses, 155-room 5-star hotel, 4 floors of premium-grade office space, retail
• Height: 35 storeys
• Amenities: gym and spa, rooftop restaurant, sky bar and swimming pool (the developer hopes to secure a Michelin-starred restaurant), another restaurant on floor 6, co-working and meeting spaces on floor one that connect to the CTICC
• Engineering: about 90 piles, each roughly 27m deep, on a tight site squeezed between the CTICC and a busy arterial road
• Job creation: +- 2,500 during construction and 400 permanent
• Timeline: concept revealed 26 October 2026, public launch January 2027, construction from 22 April 2027 (subject to approvals), completion April 2031
For decades, the Foreshore has been the part of town people drive through on their way somewhere else, and it empties out after office hours. The City says it wants Cape Town to run as a 24-hour economy. If that’s going to happen, you need people living right next to the convention centre.
Pricing and floor plans aren't available yet, and a lot can change over a four-year build. I’ll share pricing as soon as it’s out.
Would you live on the Foreshore? Let me know in the comments.

No one wants to kill the ANC bra, the ANC is self destructing. Explain to me why the economy has not grown nowhere near 2% - a measly 2% - since 2009? Explain to me why unemployment is north of 35%? Explain to the JHB resident who has to deal with days on end without water, refuse removal, potholes and no street lights why the ANC is their "inheritance?". The city of Johamnesburg cant even publish its annual report on time.
You are living on sentiment and vibes bra.
To kill the ANC can never be a good idea. It is our inheritance, born out of pure noble ideas & aspirations, created to fight not only for its day, but a projected future.
In its 100 years, after too long, it achieved it’s objectives & must yet do more.
Born at the worst of times, when it cost you to fight.
