“full time content creator” when broken down is simply “full time marketing” is it a prerequisite for being a musician? no is full time marketing yourself a prerequisite to getting your music seen/heard? yea lol big deal marketing has always been a prerequisite for that. you can just do it from your iPhone now in your bedroom (easier)
the music industry has convinced independent artists that being a full-time content creator is a prerequisite to being a musician. that’s actually insane when you think about it.

what power does this supposed gatekeeping actually have if I’ve built a lasting career without (according to you) its approval or “entry”
this holier than thou attitude is y the culture has denied russ entry for so long

The music biz discourse on here is so exhausting. It’s either people with no experience yapping or people with experience who are just dumb as rocks and lack any sort of critical thinking skills.

🎯 idk how people still don’t get this
Gone are the days where "everyone knows" a popular recording artist or hit TV show or rising film star or best-selling book. This isn't because music, TV, film, and novels suddenly turned to shit. It's because the modern version of our internet killed monoculture. The end.
