🎉🐾❤️ PLEASE HELP US WELCOME RUSTY’S ANGELS # 500 & # 501!!! ❤️🐾🎉
Meet this cute, short, chubby little duo, Lizzy Do and Copper Su! 🥰 These two precious girls helped us reach the incredible milestone of 500 and 501 senior angels saved! 🎉😭❤️
It’s a bittersweet celebration, as their story is one of those that breaks your heart a little. 💔
Lizzy Do and Copper Su were boarded at a boarding facility back in early August. Sadly, their owner fell ill and eventually had to move into assisted living. Their owner never made it back to pick them up, leaving these two little girls with an uncertain future.
At 18 years old, Lizzy Do and 16 years old, Copper Su have found their forever retirement home right here at Rusty’s Angels Sanctuary! 🐾🏡
These girls deserve to spend whatever time they have left, whether that means days, months, or even years, surrounded by love, comfort, and the medical care they so desperately need and deserve.
500 and 501. Two more precious lives. Two more reasons why we do what we do. And two more little angels who will never have to wonder where they belong again. 🥹❤️
Aren’t they just the most precious little things?! We are already head over heels in love with them! 😍🐾
Welcome home, Lizzy Do and Copper Su.
They may be seniors, but they still want to play!
Some of our residents love to take their stuffy friends wherever they go.
Does your dog have a favorite toy, too? Let's see your pics below!

❤️🐾 WELCOME HOME, DIXIE PIXIE! 🐾❤️
This beauty is Dixie, and she is absolutely spectacular and just 10 years young! 😍 We are so happy that we were able to make a spot for her here at Rusty’s Angels Sanctuary.
Sadly, Dixie’s world was turned upside down. First, her daddy passed away, and then her mama had to move out of state into assisted living and could no longer care for her. 💔
Thankfully, a wonderful woman named Georgie stepped in and cared for Dixie for several months, giving her a safe place to land while figuring out what would come next. But Georgie already has a pack of senior dogs who need her, and she knew she couldn’t keep Dixie permanently.
That’s when she reached out to Rusty’s Angels. ❤️ And just like that, Dixie’s next chapter began!
Please join us in giving a HUGE welcome to Rusty’s Angel # 499, Dixie Pixie! 🎉🐶❤️
Rusty Roo… Our Feisty but Perfect Boy. 🌈🐾
Rusty, who I affectionately called Rusty Roo, came into our lives in May 2022 alongside his brother, Gizmo.
When Rusty arrived, he was diabetic and blind. Unfortunately, his diabetes had been under-treated, leaving him very sick from a condition that had not been properly managed. He needed a lot of medical care, patience, and hands-on attention, but he also had a whole lot of life left in him.
Rusty loved his brother more than anything, and Gizmo loved him just as much. In the beginning, when Rusty wasn’t feeling well and wasn’t quite himself, he got along great with the other dogs. But as we got his diabetes better managed and he started feeling like himself again, his opinion about other dogs changed. 😂 He decided Gizmo was the only dog he needed in his life, thank you very much!
So, we built a small yard just for Rusty and Gizmo, giving the boys their own little space together.
Our Sanctuary manager, Joyce, described Rusty perfectly in his chart. She wrote that he was “feisty but still perfect.” And honestly, there could never be a more fitting description of our boy. ❤️
Caring for Rusty over the past four years and five months required a lot. A LOT of vet appointments. A LOT of insulin injections. A LOT of hands-on care, including carrying him out and back inside for his potty breaks. His care was demanding, but not once did that make him any less loved. We loved every minute of caring for him because he was our Rusty Roo.
He even helped teach countless employees how to give insulin injections, and he truly was the very best boy for it. He gave so many people the opportunity to learn and grow while receiving the love and care he deserved.
In March 2025, we lost Rusty’s beloved brother, Gizmo. Honestly, we thought Rusty might follow shortly after from a broken heart. The bond those two boys shared was something special, and losing Gizmo left a hole in all of our hearts.
But Rusty wasn’t finished with us just yet. ❤️
He proved us wrong and stayed another year and seven months, making it past his 15th birthday! We were so grateful for that extra time with our feisty little man. Rusty had a few things in life that he truly loved: walkies, treats, his brother Gizmo, and certain volunteers who would happily let him lick their ENTIRE faces. 😂❤️ Those were his people, and he made sure they knew it!
Once he turned 15, though, we really began to see his body aging. Over his final three months, our boy started slowing down, and even his appetite became a challenge as he grew increasingly picky about what he wanted to eat. In the end, it was a stroke that took our Rusty Roo from us. 💔 As heartbreaking as it was to say goodbye, we made sure his last day was filled with a few of his favorite things. With our help, he got to enjoy French fries and chocolate ice cream. ❤️🍟🍦
We may never be able to give these precious souls all the time we wish we could, but we are confident that Rusty lived his very best life during his years with us. He was safe, loved, cared for, and surrounded by people who understood that even the feistiest little souls deserve a place to call home.
The Sanctuary just isn’t the same without Rusty and Judy. 💔
Losing these two precious souls back to back has been incredibly hard. And when you’ve cared for a dog for years, watching them grow older, learning all their quirks, and becoming part of your everyday life, the loss runs especially deep.
Long-timers have a way of capturing so many hearts. It’s not just one person who falls in love with them. It’s the employees, the volunteers, and everyone who has been lucky enough to be part of their journey. So many of us fall madly in love, and when they leave us, so many hearts break right alongside our own.
Give Gizmo a kiss for us, sweet boy. 🌈🐾
Until we meet again, Rusty Roo. You will forever be one of Rusty’s Angels. ❤️
On this day, we want to recognize all the treasured vet techs out there who do such an important job!
Rusty’s Angels is lucky to have two qualified Veterinary Technicians overseeing the seniors at our sanctuary: Emilee (our Founding President) and Joyce (our Sanctuary Manager).
Happy Saturday from Luna! 🐾💚
Is everyone enjoying the cooler weather just as much as Luna is? 🍂🐶🐾

💔🌈 We called her Judy Booty… and she was one of a kind. 🐾
Judy came to Rusty’s Angels Sanctuary in January 2024 after surviving beneath a trailer following her owner’s passing. She was suffering from severe neurological issues caused by parasites, and her little body had already endured so much.
But Judy was a fighter. ❤️ She went from surviving to living her very best life as one of our Sanctuary favorites!
And of course, Judy had her VERY OWN GARAGE! 😂❤️ Every single day, she would literally park herself inside it. It was her special spot, her hideaway, and one of the many quirky things that made her so unforgettable.
She loved her cozy blankets, her senior dog friends, and the safe, happy life she finally had.
In September 2026, we said goodbye to our beloved Judy Booty. 💔 We wish we could have had more time, but we find comfort in knowing her story didn’t end beneath a trailer. It ended surrounded by love.
Run free, sweet girl. 🌈 May there be endless cozy blankets, favorite friends, and a special little garage just for you.
You were unstoppable. You were incredible. You were so, so special.
There will never be another Judy Booty. ❤️🐾

Marguerite came to us in April 2025 after being found as a stray. This little Maltipoo was in rough shape — she had severe dental disease, painful knees, a right eye that needed to be removed, and a mysterious burn scar running down the middle of her back.
As if that wasn’t enough, Marguerite was then diagnosed with insulinoma, a rare pancreatic tumor that causes her body to produce too much insulin.
Despite all this, nothing seems to get her down ─ Marguerite is one of the most cheerful dogs you could meet!
Today, Marguerite rocks her single eye, and she’s mostly blind in the other. She needs daily medication and extra meals to keep her blood sugar stable (extra meals are something this food-loving girl is very pleased about!).
Because of her medical needs, she’s retired here at the sanctuary, where we’ve been privileged to witness her transformation from lost to loved. We’ll continue to enjoy her happy vibes for as long as she wants to stay!
