🧵Did Obergefell produce the benefits that advocates predicted?
In 2015, Americans were told redefining marriage would provide greater stability for same-sex couples, encourage marriage over cohabitation, and improve the well-being of sexual minorities.
Eleven years later, we have data—not predictions.

Amen. Parental rights aren’t granted by the state. They come from the natural bond between parents and their children. The government’s job is to respect that bond, not replace it. Parents know and love their children in a way no bureaucracy ever can. Parents should be the ones guiding their future. Thank you, @SenMikeLee.
Individuals and families—not government—make the best decisions about their families' health, education, jobs, and welfare.

Is birth control marketed to the people it fails most? @DrJrobackmorse explains.
“You can do anything!”… except have a baby, apparently. Real empowerment means believing a woman can handle motherhood AND her ambitions, and building a culture that supports her through both.
Every day is a new day and a new opportunity to begin again.
A new day to choose what is good, right, and holy.
A new day to grow in virtue, learn from our circumstances, and become the people God created us to be.
A new day to extend grace, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, and compassion to ourselves and others.
A new day to make healthy choices, respond with patience instead of anger, and listen rather than react impulsively.
A new day to seek God’s grace and offer that same grace to others.
Yesterday does not have to define today. No matter what yesterday held, we can begin again, trusting in God’s mercy and allowing Him to work in our hearts.
So invite God into every part of your life today. Let Him guide your choices, shape your character, and lead you closer to Him.
Take one day, one choice at a time.
The “trade up” crowd has the data backwards. At year 13, couples who married in the 2010s are divorcing at roughly 18%, versus about a third of couples from the 1970s. Couples married in the 2010s are on track to be the most stable since the 1950s.
Marriage works. Keep your vows.
Here’s what Call Her Daddy won't tell you: a growing share of marriages today go the distance.
The “trade up” mindset @alexandracooper & @SophiaBush are pushing is an outlier, not the norm.
Divorce is down nearly 40% since peaking @ 1980 & each new cohort of married couples is more stable than the one before.
☑️ Boomer couples who wed in the ’70s/’80s: @ 50% will divorce
☑️ Couples who married in the 2010s+ are on track to do far better
That's because--for better and for worse--marriage is getting more selective & more durable.
Adoption doesn’t exist to fix infertility. It exists to answer a child’s need. It is not about giving adults a child. It’s about giving a child a family.
A stroller full of cash instead of a baby. You couldn’t design a better symbol of what the Sexual Revolution has done to women if you tried.
Women have complained since the dawn of time about boorish male behavior. Feminism, by idolizing female autonomy, has turned women into the men they hate.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Tate McRae's latest single, "Housewife." The music video features McRae pushing a stroller full of cash, caressing it like she is soothing a baby.
Her goal? "I just wanna make a lotta money, be my own housewife" while presumably the man she is singing to gets to "be my sex on the side." And her favorite thing? "I don't need you, I want you."
As ever, if McRae were a male, few would find this new feminist anthem anything but endearing.
Someday feminists might wake up and realize that they lost the plot, the moral high ground, and any claim to complain about men a long time ago.
Women weren't made for cash, but for communion.

Having a healthy marriage is a skillset that can be learned. Young people want to marry. Many just never saw a healthy marriage up close or heard anyone explain why it matters. The pulpit is one of the few places left that can still tell them the truth, and give them hope.
As the bishops called for in Rome, more should be done through marriage and family life ministries, observes @Jpdegance
This includes helping more young people learn the skills of discerning and living out a healthy marriage. Any pastor or church can begin this work immediately, by teaching the Christian worldview on marriage and family from the pulpit.
As many as 85 million Americans could show up for worship this Sunday. Change on marriage can start right there.ifstudies.org/blog/renewing-…
Being a “girl’s girl” means standing up for the girls losing podium spots, scholarships, and privacy in their own locker rooms. Women’s rights depend on being able to say what a woman is.

No, the answer is not "always yes."
Hard seasons in a marriage are common. They are not a verdict. Telling unhappy wives they can do better isn’t empowerment. It’s abandonment dressed up as self-care.
To the woman wondering if she should leave: struggling doesn’t mean your marriage is over. Many couples who hit rock bottom come out stronger.
A podcaster who doesn’t know you or your family shouldn’t be the one telling you the answer is “always yes.”
Morally bankrupt podcaster Alex Cooper brazenly promotes women leaving their husbands:
Alex Cooper: “We can get really in our heads about… ‘Maybe I shouldn’t leave this marriage. Can I even get better?’ And the answer is always YES!”
Sophia Bush: “This idea that it’s too late or you’re too old… That’s patriarchy!!”
Porn sells a counterfeit of intimacy, and a generation bought it. The result is a sex recession, a marriage recession, and a baby bust. The real thing still exists. It’s called marriage.
America is experiencing a sex recession, as less and less adults have sex at least once a week. @BradWilcoxIFS says it's a consequence of a world full of distractions, and the proliferation of porn.
Two men can’t conceive together. That’s not a disease. It’s biology. Rewriting the definition of infertility so insurance covers it isn’t medicine. It’s a subsidy for buying babies.
