I don't know why, but I feel like certain books require a certain outfit. A pretty little book and a pretty little outfit? Perfect. A serious literary novel while wearing my oldest oversized shirt? Also perfect.

My Abuja people, can we try a book swap? We can pick a date, meet up, and swap books with each other. You bring a book and leave with something new to read. Who鈥檚 interested?

Flowers are beautiful, jewellery is lovely, and perfume will always have a special place in my heart. But imagine someone gifting me a book with a little handwritten note inside explaining why they thought I'd love it. Oh, that's the kind of thing I'll remember years later.

Forget fancy dinners for a second. Take me to a bookstore, let me pick out a book, and sit with me while I tell you about the story I'm reading. If you ask me questions about the characters and actually listen to my answers, I might just start looking at you differently.

Lending books is such an act of trust because you are handing someone a piece of your happiness and hoping they understand what it means to you. Some people return them, others behave as though the book has mysteriously disappeared from the face of the earth.

Every book is evidence that somebody once had an entire world inside their head and somehow found a way to let strangers into it. The characters, the conversations, the places, the heartbreaks, all of it began as something that existed only in someone's imagination.

A book can make you feel like the least knowledgeable person in the room and the most understood person in the world at the same time.

I wish I could experience the excitement of discovering my favourite books for the first time again.

The weird thing about reading so much as a child and picking up a huge vocabulary from books. Like, I may not be able to explain what the word means, but somehow I know exactly when it sounds right. Does anyone else experience this?

I just realised that no matter how many books I read about assault and rape, there will always be someone whose story carries bitterness, anger, and rage than the one before.

I need my community closely knitted when it comes to church.
You can't have this in your mega churches where the children unit is in a totally different building with ushers directing and grabbing your kids from you, right from the entrance. This is another reason why I prefer and always choose to worship in a communual small/medium growing church and why I also prefer rural living to urban..馃檹 Yes I want members and my pastor to stop by my house when I fall sick馃檲 I want to join my members to go pray on the car engine of a brother or sister who just got a new car.. I want the Pastor to stand on the altar and call me by name and ask why I was not in for Bible studies馃し I want to hug and gist for a few minutes with people who know me by name and know the road to my house. I take church hunting very seriously when I move to a new location. Choke me with the family unity spirit, that's what I came for. Look me in the eye and say, Sister Edu, I don't think you're fine...can I say a word of prayer for you??? Anything short of this experience and you've lost my soul...I need my community closely knitted when it comes to church.

COMMON IDIOMS Out of the blue - Unexpectedly Keep an eye on - Watch carefully On thin ice - Close to trouble Pull yourself together - Calm down Around the corner - Coming soon In the same boat - In the same situation Up in the air - Not decided Let it slide - Ignore it

I want to reread A Thousand Splendid Suns. This time with the hardcover in my hands and tears dripping onto the pages.
"One last time, Mariam did as she was told." I cried fifteen rivers.馃槶

I wonder why they keep saying a woman has lost her light. Why is it that when a woman ages, gains weight, or simply changes, people say she has lost her glow, but a man is just getting older? Who decided that a woman鈥檚 light has an expiration date?
