Let’s do some summer reading.
Recently I sat down on the GameDay One Podcast and spoke with Michael Eck, author of “Strike Season” which is available now on Amazon.
Eck is the father of three former standout @RyeAthletics athletes. The book, though, details his own senior season as a high school QB in Pennsylvania in 1979 when the football coaches left the sidelines to join a teachers union strike.
And the players coached themselves.
It’s an unbelievable story. Eck and I went through the book, his time as a parent in Rye and discussed his foundation: STEER for Student Athletes, which he helped create. All proceeds from the book benefit @STEER4Students.

Mamaroneck star Will Plunkett drafted today by the Baltimore Orioles.
The Binghamton University commit was taken in the 8th Round, 230th overall.
The Orioles select Will Plunkett in the eighth round of the MLB Draft.
The 4-star prep shortstop was tabbed as a sleeper prospect in this year's high school class.

Former Blind Brook baseball star Andrew Rogovic is leaving Northeastern for Ole Miss. Section 1 to the SEC is pretty incredible.
Rogovic had 60 Ks in 39.2 IP and a .169 opp BA in his sophomore season at Northeastern.

A season like this doesn’t come around often. Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins invited the Archbishop Stepinac High School Boys Basketball Team to mark a season that speaks for itself. Winning at the city level, state level and finishing as undisputed champions. That doesn’t happen without commitment and a group willing to put in the work day in and day out. Westchester is proud of what this team accomplished and the example they set.

Westchester County Center week for Section 1 Basketball is less than a month away. All games will be broadcast live on SportsEngine. And we'll be providing extensive coverage on GameDay One and with the crew on the Winning Moments Show.
We at GameDay One are looking for potential student interns looking to help in providing that coverage. Last year we had an incredible group - @NickNatale56 @GershmanJosh and @GaffneyConner - who absolutely crushed it all week.
The trio assisted in the live productions, created content on our IG and X, and we hosted a roundtable show recapping the week after the Gold Balls were handed out. They did on-camera interviews, stats, worked cameras, everything. But Wednesday, they were some of the most recognized people in the building.
This year, I am looking to create even more content, including even more postgame interviews with players and coaches, and a daily podcast recapping the games. We'll also have a "GD1 Intern Special Show" in our studio following the week. There will also be some opportunities to work with us on the Winning Moments Show.
This is great hands-on experience that last year's crew (pictured) will hopefully say it catapulted them into their first year of college.
