Typically
4.5 40 is 10.8 - 11.0
4.4 40 is 10.6 - 10.79
4.3 40 is 10.4 - 10.59
4.2 40 is 10.1 - 10.39
If you run 11.7 on the track and claim 4.5 ITS NOT POSSIBLE GUYS 🤷

My Top 5 Errors in Speed Development:
1- Excessive focus on running mechanics
2- Insufficient use of resistance training
3- Poor resistance exercise selection
4- Imprudent training volume/frequency
5- Training in the presence of fatigue

Similar to strength levels, sprint mechanics need to be good not great and certainly not perfect. Added value with refinements but relatively low compared to other aspects of speed training.

Verdict: Refinements in sprint mechanics among college football players explains ~3% of any improvement in speed. 31% by increased power. 61% from improvements in coordination of muscle activation. 5% improved body composition. Making progress. LinkedIn article in the works.

Two biggest problems I continue to see in high school weight rooms:
1- excessive focus on strength
2- excessive reliance on bilateral exercises.

Ugh. Every play-action pass isn't an RPO. Run-pass options usually involve an inside or outside zone run with a quick pass (slant or stick) or bubble screen. #SBLII
