Evidence that they don’t even believe their own crap about tariffs. They know tariffs are harmful and unpopular.

The economic legacy of the last two years in a single chart. Americans hate tariffs.

Just such a fun chart here from @greg_ip. If only we could tease out some meaning. Ah, well, nevertheless. 🤣

Federal tax revenue increased 65% over the past decade, but spending rose 92% and the national debt more than doubled.
Holding spending growth near 5% annually could have put Washington on a path toward structural balance without raising taxes.

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is nonprofit in name only. Over the past decade, it has booked nearly $1.4 billion in tax-free profits. So, who is benefiting from these profits, the general public or the executives and outside physicians who use the hospital for their private gain? Read Part 2 of my look at whether Georgetown Hospital earns it’s tax-exempt status:

Tariffs are the GOP's anchor at -39 percent approval.
WSJ's analysis finds Dems have spent $58,347,905 on negative tariffs ads this cycle. The GOP has spent $0 mentioning tariffs.
1/ Trump called “tariff” the most beautiful word in the dictionary. He somehow made it the most hated word in politics. He has thus endangered would could have been a legacy-defining shift in American trade policy. My column: wsj.com/economy/trade/how-ta…

.@SteveForbesCEO is right here. The @USTreasury should measure twice and cut once when it comes to restricting U.S. companies from doing business in China, especially in cases where there isn’t a readily apparent national security concern.
Investors and companies need certainty. When the government makes it difficult to know ahead of time what the rules of the road are going to be, that impacts the availability and cost of capital.
As comments come in on this, let’s hope that we can strike a balance between legitimate national security limits and a predictable shareholder/investor environment.
The COINS Act rightly targets investments that could strengthen China's military capabilities. Expanding restrictions broadly to biopharma risks driving valuable drug discoveries to European competitors instead of U.S. companies. That's not protecting American leadership.

Great piece from @AStuttaford on California's "one time" wealth tax:
"That’s (a bit) like saying that people who have already been burgled have no reason to lock the door to their homes. And it’s a bit like arguing that Lucy won’t take away the football."
If Prop 40 even comes close to passing, it is not only California’s billionaires (or those hoping to be billionaires) who should move away from the state. | @AStuttaford

Patients can compare prices for almost anything they buy. Health care should be no different.
New CMS rules make it easier to compare medical costs, shop for better value, and encourage competition among providers.

The debanking scandal was real. Lawful businesses lost banking access because bureaucrats disapproved of their industries or beliefs.
President Trump’s regulators banned “reputation risk.”
Congress should make that fix permanent by passing @votetimscott's FIRM Act.

Memo to the Trump administration: Stop buying companies.
A government $40 trillion in debt should be SELLING assets, not buying ownership stakes in 36 companies.

Seniors claim they were "promised" Social Security, but they demand,
A. more than they paid in, on average
B. more than prior generations received
C. more than they're set to get under current law (there are 22% cuts in 6 years), and
D. more than the program originally was designed to give (before 1977 Congress had to vote on benefit increases, but since they've gone up on autopilot)

Washington doesn't have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem.
Over the last decade:
Tax revenue: +65%
Government spending: +92%
The two parties fight over where the money should go, but they agree on one thing: spending beyond their means.
