Remember when Alabama lost to Georgia at home and didn’t drop a spot in the rankings?
Because “Alabama vs Georgia was just a matchup between the two best teams in the entire country” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just got sad thinking about the CFP implications if Ohio State loses this game, and realizing it won't matter next year.

I’m owed a LOT of apologies from Ohio State fans for all the nasty hate I took last year for my Sayin takes.
The feedback I’d gotten from scout friends led me to notice he has an odd throwing motion that gets the ball out fast but flat. He struggles to layer throws, and can’t drive the ball well beyond 20 yards.
His deep balls are catchable but usually tend to float - he just struggles to drive the ball down a seam unless his feet are well set.
Ohio State needs Sayin to be a West Coast, short passing game merchant throwing dots. Without Tate, teams can bracket Smith, play tight coverage, and not worry about getting burned. Combine that with a flagging run game and the offense is sputtering.
It’s absolutely NOT to say Sayin is a bad quarterback. At all. It’s saying that he’s a bit unique and needs to run a specific type of scheme. He’s an elite efficiency-based point guard. But he honestly really struggles carrying an offense making 2nd level throws off reads.
OSU fans are all over us in our recap for questioning if Sayin is limited on the deep ball. They say we don't watch games. But here are the facts:
- Sayin is 98th nationally in throws of 20+ yards with just 9, tied with Jackson Arnold and Drew Allar
- Just 6 of those completions had 25+ air yards.
With just 9 throws it's easy to chart:
-- Badly underthrown ball Carnell Tate comes back to catch for a 40 yard TD vs Texas
-- Seam route vs Grambling, caught at 15 and then YAC for a TD by Kacmerek
- Curl vs Grambling, catch and run corner route by Thurman at 20 yards
-- Go route vs Grambling, good 40 yard throw to Smith who is wide open after a bust for a TD
-- Play action vs Grambling, deep post to Tate for 40 yards, okay throw with a lot of air vs deep post with no safety
-- Very underthrown go ball vs Ohio that goes for a TD because Tate beats the CB by 5-10 yards
-- Screen pass vs Ohio
-- Play action vs Ohio caught by Smith for a TD, okay throw with a lot of air vs deep post with no safety
-- Empty set vs Ohio caught by Tate for a TD, okay throw with a lot of air vs deep post with no safety
-- (no 20 yard throws vs Washington)
Three times he cleanly hits a deep post with no safety, all three times with a ton of air on it. Twice he scores on go routes with too much air to Tate, once because Tate makes a circus catch, once because Tate beats his man so badly. His best throw is a 40 yard go route on a rope to Smith in busted coverage.
I really don't see how the above proves it's ridiculous to say Sayin may have a limited deep ball. If anything, it's the opposite. Sayin is yet to hit a single 20+ seam on the year, or complete any boundary throw deep vs coverage. Most of his balls have too much air. It's fair to call this a concern.

Indiana had the refs, home field, an all time bad showing by Sayin and then Sayin getting hurt and they still couldn’t win.
Gained 10lbs of muscle this offseason. Too much muscle growth too fast tightens flexibility and throwing motion

What this really says:
“We prefer you think you’re as healthy as an athlete rather than learning how to actually be healthy.
That way you come back to the Doc with worse problems that we can profit from more”
