A panelist read Nixon a letter in 1968 about a proposed 50% increase in Social Security. Stop inflation first, he said, because generosity that raises prices is "robbing the poor." Full 1968 broadcast, "The Nixon Answer," from Detroit: youtu.be/-Dg6yfOpYYY

Data centers using reliable natural gas should be celebrated, not condemned. Modern natural gas generation has helped reduce carbon emissions through greater efficiency and technological innovation. Meanwhile, so-called “green” energy brings billions in potential liabilities, massive land consumption, wildlife impacts, dependence on Communist China supply chains, taxpayer subsidies, and costly transmission buildouts to overcome intermittency. America needs reliable, affordable energy—not climate virtue signaling.

A wonderful day for the #NYCmarathon. NY’s Finest looking sharp as they keep millions of people safe — and take to the pavement for the 26-mile run! Congratulations to the NYPD Running Team on beating FDNY and taking home the Mayor’s Cup.
Congratulations to the NYPD running team for winning the Mayor’s Cup again this year and to the thousands of runners who ran the NYC marathon today! Thank you to all the members of the NYPD who were out in full force across all five boroughs to keep the runners and spectators safe.

My reaction to Haley Stevens interview on CNN tonight. The Stevens/Dingell mashup was one of the wildest things I’ve seen on set in 10 years out there.
CNN's @ScottJenningsKY on Haley Stevens doubling down on her Mike Rogers endorsement to Anderson Cooper... "I think she is struggling, but why is the question? I mean, she's been a Democrat her entire life. She's been a Democratic elected official. She's been one of the most important Democrats in the country. And, if you look at the reaction to her announcement today, look at what Democrats are saying about her. Look, some of the leading voices in the Democratic Party on the American left are saying some of the most horrible things about her, all because she decided to make a political choice that she didn't like. And so, I assume, by tonight, she is struggling. I don't know what changed overnight. And you talked to her. I didn't, but, you know, she has agency. You know, she is a person who's put herself forward for public service in Michigan, and she ultimately just couldn't get comfortable enough with Abdul el-Sayed. I think, frankly, there are going to be a lot of Democrats in Michigan who never quite got comfortable with Abdul el-Sayed, including perhaps some people who told pollsters that, yes, I intend to vote Democrat, but when they get in the booth, they're not going to be able to do it. That's what happened in the primary. He drastically underperformed in the primary because a lot of Democrats just couldn't do it. And so, I don't know how she arrived at this decision, but I know this. This campaign and the agents of this campaign have gotten very, very ugly and very ornery, and, frankly, borderline violent in their rhetoric, even, Van, things they've said about you. I mean, this -- this fellow Cunk Uygur saying that, you know, 'wrap an Israeli flag around you and start calling everyone you see an anti-Semite. Wa la, you're Van Jones.' That is one of Abdul el-Sayed's biggest boosters. So, all these people around the Democratic Party in Michigan, I think, who are going nuts on Haley Stevens tonight, I can easily see why she's struggling."

You literally say in your story that you think the polling is off by more than 2020 when you guys missed by about 4.5 percent nationally — so therefore if that’s the case, and you gave let’s say 6 points (1.5 more than your 2020 national error) to the GOP on margin of each of these the GOP would actually hold Maine, Alaska, Iowa, Ohio, and Kansas (5 of these and therefore the majority) and Texas would be a 1-point race (probably favoring Paxton) and Michigan would be way closer.
The final Times/Siena polls of the campaign find Democrats ahead in all seven of the states likeliest to decide the Senate nytimes.com/2026/11/01/us/po…

It has been my honor to spend time with communities across New York during this campaign. I am grateful to Bishop Gerald Seabrooks for allowing me to address his congregation at the Rehoboth Church in South Brooklyn. Crime is up, homelessness is up, and our communities are feeling the impact. Seven years of politics haven't gotten us very far. It's time to put public safety and our communities first.

This is what happens when you have a democratic socialist District Attorney, Jose P Garza, who fights for criminals rather than for justice for victims and their families.
🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in Texas after a Black male driver who slammed into a fire captain at 103 MPH, K*LLING him just hours after the birth of his FIFTH CHILD... ...was just sentenced to only SIX MONTHS in jail and PROBATION!!! Yes, you read that right. He pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter, and he’ll spend about six months in jail. On May 11th, 2025, Mother’s Day, Captain Marvin Taylor III's wife gave birth to their fifth baby at an Austin hospital. Marvin left the hospital to go pick up his other children so they could meet their new sibling. He never made it. At 1:05AM, he was stopped at a red light on East Koenig Lane. According to court records, that’s when a Dodge Durango came flying down the road and rear-ended his van at 103 MPH... the speed limit was 45. The crash sent Marvin’s van sliding 150 feet into a median. He passed away right there at the scene. The man who k*lled him is Rodney Bremby, he was completely drunk. He was booked on a $103,000 bond... and he bonded out within DAYS. In August, he pleaded guilty to Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle, a second-degree felony. And this week, the sentence came down. 6 months in jail. 10 years of probation. 403 hours of community service. Those 403 hours were the family’s request, it was Marvin’s badge number. Now FIVE CHILDREN will grow up without their father, and the man who did it gets 6 month in prison. Say his name. Captain Marvin Taylor III. WE DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS!!!!!!!

Prediction Announcement: Maine Senate Getting Maine correct is always hard, especially when it comes to Susan Collins. This cycle has been a crazy one with Maine politics (PLATNER!) but has settled down to somewhat normal the last two months. Collins brings a lot of money to the state through her position in the Senate, but this is also a state that is solidly Democrat in registration and how it votes overall. She is the last Republican standing in New England. Polling has her down, even as she has been tied in some polls. In 2020 she famously beat polling that had her down by a lot only for her to win by 8.6%. I don't think she does it by that much this year, but I do think that Collins will win re-election one more time. It will be much closer, but I think thanks to the chaos on the Democrat side she will get the nod for one more term. She brings consistency to the state and money, lots of it. She's also just a very good politician and I think that old school ability of hers gives her the edge (note: RCV was triggered in this model, but it was so close that it could not have been by a small % of votes...its complicated and more reasons why I hate RCV). We will see Tuesday night if she has one last trick up her sleeve.

I had heard from some folks that Amy Acton was a raging alcoholic, and I always disregarded it cuz I assumed it was just typical political hit slop. I hadn’t seen this. Man. Hard to explain this any other way. In CA we already have an alcoholic governor…folks, trust me…you can’t let an addict be governor. They will destroy your state faster than their liver.
