Congrats!!! Good luck with the grant next year and commiserations on missing out. Sure the project will be better for it.

Latest publication: Hammers and Nails: Military Innovation as a Strategic Dead End
In this article I argue that innovation has become an end-in-itself, supplanting the much harder challenge of defining a meaningful, justifiable and achievable strategy
Many thanks to the folks at @milstrategymag for publishing my work.

To be honest, I think Emery’s intensity and structure didn’t suit him at all. He seemed to be a player who never quite knew what he should be doing for us. Emery never really trusted him but he clearly had some talent. His lack of acceleration made the memes pretty good though.
Now all we need to do is get the game moved to Stoke and hope it’s a wet, windy night. Then we’ll see if he can do it.
I am so emotional over this. I’ve been going to Villa all my life, I was a boy when we last won a major trophy. I watched us go down, watched us lose a play off final, I’ve seen the club on the brink of bankruptcy only to rebuild, overcome and conquer. Thank you #avfc!

I am in favour of animals being on bank notes so long as the animals in question are all just pics of my cats. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4ge…

These cock-sure proclamations of everything wrong are easy now, but hindsight is 20/20, very few can hand on heart say they demanded greater defence spending in the midst of the financial crisis, the austerity years or even on the eve of 2022. Defence spending doesn’t win votes.

Taking 24/25 figures MOD’s Civilian personnel accounted for 4.4% of the budget vs 21.9% for service personnel. Procurement has service, civilian AND political involvement. This presentation of civilians as somehow eating up the budget is either sloppy or knowingly wrong.

He and I have gone to Villa together for years. You can think what you like about his other areas of work but I’ll tell you right now he’s a proper fan.
