Today, @SCIMalawi & @adramalawi joined @PlanMalawi for the launch of End Child Marriage Campaign & 2025 State of the World’s Girls Report in Mzimba. The event, graced by former Vice President Khumbo Kachali, called for collective action to let every girl be a child, not a wife
Through the TEVET Pilot and Green Jobs for Adolescents Project, @SCIMalawi has trained 740 youth (15–24 years) from Mzimba & Ntcheu, equipping them with green and business skills to build livelihoods and delay early marriage.
@SCIMalawi is conducting a 3-day training in Chikwawa under the Cummins-funded Education in Emergencies project to strengthen emergency preparedness among teachers, school management, and community disaster committees at Sekeni Primary School.
@SCIMalawi through its Humanitarian Fund & Cummins-funded Education in Emergencies project, has donated hygiene kits worth MWK33 Million to 820 learners at Sekeni Primary School in Chikwawa —supporting children hit by Cyclones Chido & Jude to restore hygiene, dignity & learning.
When girls lead, communities thrive. Let’s invest in girls’ voices and leadership. Happy #InternationalDayOfTheGilrChild
Today at Manja Primary in Blantyre, @MinOfEducation @SCIMalawi & @MalawiRedCross supported emergency drills as part of the roll-out of School SOPs for disasters. 51 learners were trained & will share lifesaving skills with peers, helping keep schools safe.
Why SOPs? Malawi faces frequent disasters, 🌪️ floods, 🌊 cyclones, 🔥 fires, 🌾 droughts, that disrupt learning & endanger children. Cyclone Freddy alone damaged 72 classrooms, destroyed nearly 1,000 toilets, & forced 724,000 learners out of class.
To strengthen resilience, @SCIMalawi, with support from @GPforEducation, helped develop Education Emergency Preparedness & Response SOPs. These SOPs will guide schools & authorities to better protect children’s right to learn during crises.
Children in Malawi bear the brunt of climate change, despite contributing the least. Watch how children in Ntchisi and Salima are leading climate action with support from the SIDA CSOs Capacity Strengthening Programme. 👇👇
