My colleagues & I worked 3 years to unionize and reach a contract w/the Southern California News Group, which owns the Orange County Register, where I'm based, LA Daily News, and 9 more newspapers. Today we signed our 1st contract. To quote Martha Stewart, 'It's a good thing.'

I'm so proud of all of my colleagues who worked tirelessly for years to achieve this. It isn't perfect, but being able to lift our veteran journalists making under 50k to that salary base along with the new(er) reporters starting their careers, is a victory worth celebrating!

My SCNG colleagues deserve fair compensation for the work they do for our communities. I urge management to do the right thing in negotiating a strong contract that includes livable wages.
