Just an outstanding night in North Charleston. 6,800+ hockey fans rooting on the @SCStingrays at their home opener. Good scrap early, great game late. Stingrays beat rival Greenville, 4-3 in OT. Highlights and reaction right here.

Welcome Jesse Kallechy. Heck of a debut for the new @SCStingrays head coach. A 5-1 win which included one heck of a scrap down in Jacksonville. They play on home ice, Saturday night.

Just something special about the EBUG in hockey. The @SCStingrays hadn't gotten their netminders down yet on opening day of camp. They enlisted a local goalie to fill in. Did I mention, they enlisted Colleen Jacoby. A female, local, maritime attorney, adult league standout to fill the crease until reinforcements arrived. Pretty cool of them. Pretty darn cool for her.

The Stingrays take the ice with Jesse Kallechy as their head coach for the first time today. Quite a short training camp, game 1 on Friday in Jacksonville before coming home on Saturday. We hear from the new head coach here.

Hockey is back in North Charleston. Practice one of the Jesse Kallechy era. The former Fort Wayne head coach with his first group here— good mix of veterans like Connor Moore, Josh Wilkins, Jayden Luypen and new faces to the area. Puck drops for real in six days.

What a great afternoon at the Ice Palace. Tons of former Stingrays on the ice, former pros like Daniel Island’s David Krejci and Erik Cole behind the bench in a charity game for youth hockey in the lowcountry. All of the names return- guys like Dave Seitz, Matt Reid, Nate Kiser, Trevor Johnson, Lawton Courtnall, Johan Kroll, Justin Florek, Matt Scherer, Parker Milner, Rob Madore, Jason Fitzsimmons, Rob Concannon, Andrew Rowe, Scott Romfo, Hunter Bishop, Mike Hamilton among others. Longtime pros like Dylan Reese who lives in the lowcountry back on the sheet. Some video here of a few highlights—- goals from Florek, Courtnall, Hamilton. Interviews with Kiser and Coocs. Great day for hockey in the lowcountry. And, they can still skate pretty well. Sold out crowd, jersey auction- nice bump for the skating youth in our area.
