Here’s an inside (first) look at one of the Exo cars from Montreal!
SEPTA crews are currently working hard to get these ready for service. This includes installing a Positive Train Control system, shortening exterior doors to accommodate higher platforms, and (as you can see) changing the signage from French to English!
The Exo coach cars will operate with #SEPTA’s existing push/pull locomotives and join the ten railcars leased from Maryland Area Regional Commuter Rail (MARC) last November.
Funding for the purchase of the railcars comes from the nearly $220 million in
additional capital dollars allocated by Governor Josh Shapiro in November 2025 to support urgent safety upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
Restez à l'affût des mises à jour!

Literal royalty are more willing to use public transit than Philadelphia city councilmembers.
Kate, the Princess of Wales, and her daughter, Princess Charlotte, lived like London locals over the weekend, commuting on London's public subway system.

🚨 We need your help: 5 minutes to move the Roosevelt Boulevard Subway forward!
PennDOT, the City, and SEPTA are collecting public comments on the Boulevard Tomorrow improvements for Sections RB1 (Broad Street to Pratt Street) and RB2 (Pratt Street to Old Lincoln Highway).
We support these safety upgrades, and we want them built. But safety fixes alone won’t give Northeast Philadelphia the fast, reliable transit it has been promised for over a century. PennDOT must select the Roosevelt Boulevard Subway as the Locally Preferred Alternative and advance it into design and engineering. This comment period is our chance to say so.
👉 Submit your comment here: forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/…
How to fill out the form:
Q1, Sections: Select both RB1 and RB2.
Q2 to Q4, Where you live and work, and your interest: Answer honestly. Check Commuter if you ride transit or travel the Boulevard. Check Resident if you live in Northeast Philadelphia.
Q5, Your thoughts on the improvements: Say you support the safety changes, then call for the subway. Use your own words and, if you can, share a personal story: your commute, a close call, how long your bus ride takes.
Q6 and Q7, The project information: Answer honestly. If the materials didn’t explain how these improvements connect to the subway, or when PennDOT will decide on it, say so in Q7.
Q8, Additional comments: Make the ask directly: “Select the Roosevelt Boulevard Subway as the Locally Preferred Alternative and fund design and engineering now.”
Every comment counts.

System-wide ridership in August 2026 increased by 5.3% from August 2025. August 2025 was when major service cuts were implemented due to the financial crisis.
Average daily ridership was 697,340 unlinked trips across all modes which is up 2.47% from July 2026. August ridership is typically higher than July but much lower than September once schools re-open. The highest ridership of the month came on 8/25 with 801,791 passenger trips coinciding with comfortable weather and the Eagles training camp public practice.
Ridership jumped during the final week of the month. The USGA Tournament drove M ridership early in the month. The return of school students and the implementation of the New Bus Network drove growth during the final days of the month.
Weekday bus ridership increased by 9.3% or 31,686 trips per weekday to this time last year. Saturday ridership was up 7.2% and Sunday ridership was up 3.8%. This was the best year over year growth month since October 2024.
Ridership on Heavy Rail (Metro L, B, and M) decreased by 0.9%. This year there was no Trolley Blitz resulting in lower ridership in the L relative to this time last year. Ridership was down 5% on the L and up 5% on the B.
Trolley ridership increased by 18% as a result of not having a Trolley Blitz this year.
Metro ridership expanded by 1.5% compared to August 2025.
Regional Rail ridership increased by 0.1% or 76 passenger trips per day. Bus substitution service was in effect on the West Trenton Line between West Trenton and Yardley and on the Manayunk/Norristown Line between Elm Street and Norristown Transit Center.
Thanks for riding!
