You know why? Biggest factor to this is because fans nowadays are sensitive. Idol not talking is considered rude. Idol talking too much is annoying. Eating too little is pretentious. Eating too much is excessive. Dancing hard is trying too hard. Hitting high notes is boastful.

I'm not sure the impact was as permanent as 9/11 but it definitely changed movie marketing for a while and i think so many people dressed up for a non-event that they wouldn't otherwise play into was a major transition marker into the new post-lockdown normal
