Darby Danzl Crop Report from the @ILSoybean Agronomy Farm in Heyworth, IL! After a dry July with just 0.6″ of rain, the farm received a much-needed 1.4″ this past week. Crops are progressing well, with full-season soybeans at R3/R4, double-crop beans at V3/V4, and corn ranging from R1 to R3. The year-two pollinator strip is filling in nicely and bringing increased biodiversity—including plenty of lady beetle larvae helping keep aphids in check. 🐞 Overall, crops are looking promising! According to research from a @IllinoisCropSci project supported by @ILSoybean, average soybean yields were slightly reduced after a cereal rye cover crop at 3 locations over 3 crop years. Yields weren’t impacted by additional N and S application. #USSoy bit.ly/4ublR96

Crop Report (7/13) from Tim Laatsch: 🌽 Corn: Early fields are at R1-R2 with strong yield potential and low disease pressure. No southern rust or tar spot observed. Continue scouting before making fungicide decisions. 🌱 Soybeans: Early beans are at R3-R4 and improving as fields dry. Watch for waterhemp and Septoria brown spot, but disease and insect pressure remain low. Bottom line: Yield potential remains strong, and regular scouting is still the best management strategy.
