(Also, same goes for tour managers, orchestrators, music journalists, publicists, and everyone else in the ecosystem. If nothing else wear a mask and practice social distancing so we can all get back to work.)

Happy Labor Day! Musicians and songwriters and composers and producers are workers! Because so much of the labor behind music is invisible to listeners, it’s always worth reflecting on the work that we’re not seeing.

A disproportionate number of these workers--around 100,000 workers--are Black. The Trump Administration’s targeting of the Postal Services for massive cuts, then, is a clear attack on Black workers’ wealth, union organization, and power. We must stand with these workers.

The Post Office is a necessity for musicians who ship recorded music and other merchandise. Beside being an essential service for musicians and millions of others, the Postal Service also provides union jobs w/ middle class benefits and salaries to nearly half a million people.

Post office delays have been hugely problematic for independent artists and labels increasingly dependent on mailorder. This move is deeply troubling.
BREAKING: Postmaster General Louis DeJoy displaces the two top executives overseeing day-to-day operations, and reassigns 23 more postal executives, centralizing power around himself as delays grow at USPS ahead of mostly vote-by-mail election.

150+ NYC clubs have joined together to form the New York Independent Venue Association. Tell your legislators to save these essential spaces from shutting down forever. I don't want to live in a city without independent music venues. Do you? #saveourstages saveourstages.com/
