🎸 40 years ago today, on the Billboard 200 dated October 25, 1986, Bon Jovi went to No. 1 in America for the first time with Slippery When Wet. It was make or break time for the band. 7800° Fahrenheit had done only moderately well in 1985, so Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora went back to basics, writing in Sambora's mother's basement in New Jersey and bringing in songwriter Desmond Child, who co-wrote You Give Love a Bad Name, Livin' on a Prayer and Without Love with them. They wrote around 30 songs and played them for New Jersey and New York teenagers to help pick the final tracks. Producer Bruce Fairbairn recorded the album at Little Mountain Sound in Vancouver between January and July 1986, and it was released on August 18. When the news came through, the band was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on the road supporting .38 Special. You Give Love a Bad Name hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 a month later, and Livin' on a Prayer followed with four weeks at the top in early 1987. Slippery When Wet spent eight weeks at No. 1 in total and was Billboard's top selling album of 1987. What is your favorite track on Slippery When Wet?

I’d like to thank everyone for their kindness, thoughtfulness and support. It’s greatly appreciated and means a lot. Whiskey was a big part of my life from the day he was born. He’s a gentle, caring and calming soul. Of course his father Dijon loves and misses him very much as do we all. Again, my heartfelt thanks to all of you. Ax-

David Bowie picked Annie Lennox to perform Under Pressure with him at the '92 Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. This rehearsal is AMAZING. Bowie’s expression alone is PRICELESS. What other famous artist can you spot?

Ik herinner me mijn ongeloof. Bowie was toch heel 'hot and happening'? Where Are We Now? I.M. David Bowie (8 januari 1947 - 10 januari 2016) 🕯️

We don’t often talk about Madonna’s tattoos, and that in itself says a lot. For decades, never had any and that was intentional. She clearly overcame whatever resistance she had to them as the years went by. My theory has always been this: Madonna wanted to remain a blank canvas for her artistry. Her body was never decoration, it was a medium. A surface she could reshape endlessly, depending on the era, the idea, the provocation. Tattoos would have fixed something permanent onto something she treated as fluid. That barrier finally came down at 62. Her first tattoo appeared in December 2020: “LRDMSE”, inked on the inside of her left wrist. The initials of her six children, in age order: Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Stella, and Estere. It wasn’t aesthetic first. It was personal first. And that feels important. After that, the door stayed open. In May 2021, she added a small red “X” on her right wrist, a direct nod to Madame X. Identity as concept, reduced to a single mark. Later that year, in November 2021, she inked the Hebrew word for “kissed” (וישקהו) beneath her children’s initials. She herself described these tattoos as a trilogy family, art, spirituality completed within the same year. In 2022, the focus turned inward and backward. She tattooed “Maman” on her left wrist in a typewriter-style font, with a small outlined heart beneath it. A quiet, devastating tribute to her mother, who died when Madonna was only five. Around the same period, she added a Kabbalah Tree of Life on her right wrist complex, symbolic, deeply tied to beliefs she’s carried for decades. Not decorative but Philosophical. What’s fascinating is that none of these tattoos are loud. None are there to shock. They don’t perform for us. They anchor her. And maybe that’s the point of this entire evolution: When Madonna finally chose permanence, it wasn’t to brand an era . it was to mark what had already shaped her forever.

At this time exactly 5 years ago I was taken to ICU after I nearly drank myself to death. I was there for 3 days. I was utterly broken after 25 years of addiction, depression and anxiety. Today I help street dogs and have been sober since. My message to you today is that there is always hope. There is always a second chance. You can do this. ❤️

#Today on December 7 1990, .@Madonna’s "Justify My Love" was released as the first-ever video single, priced at $9.98. The music video was considered too sexually explicit for MTV and was banned from the network. Madonna responded to the banning: “Why is it that people are willing to go and watch a movie about someone getting blown to bits for no reason at all, and nobody wants to see two girls kissing and two men snuggling?” The release peaked at number two on Billboard's Top Music Videos for two weeks, and spent 39 weeks on the chart overall. It has been certified four times platinum by the (@RIAA), for shipments of 200,000 units in the US, and went on to sell over a million copies worldwide, becoming the best selling video single of all time.
