The Mendip Hills group had a special treat of a nature inspired pottery workshop at Ella Phillips studio last week. We made tiles using foliage we'd collected to show what nature means to us, then made bowls using images of local wildlife we love. @MendipHillsNL @SomersetWT
We've been working with the charity Diverse to set up a Nature Connection group at Bishop's Palace for adults who are neurodiverse. We celebrated the end of the first course last week by making apple bird feeders and playing games on the lawn. @SomersetWT @MendipHillsNL
Week 3 for the SNC group was full of beauty and awe as we walked through Velvet Bottom nature reserve, taking lots of time to share all the amazing things around us and learning about the interesting history of the landscape. @SomersetWT @MendipHillsNL
Fantastic start to the year for the Mendip Hills SNC group. Week 1 was a walk around Ubley Warren where we discovered some great nooks and crannies for a sensory sit spot. Week 2 we helped the National Trust do hedgerow tree planting near Kingswood. @SomersetWT @MendipHillsNL
Wonderful day at A Patch Wilder yesterday. Thinking about the meaning and traditions of wreath making at this time of year, and how we can bring a bit of hope and joy in to our homes. @MendipHillsNL @SomersetWT
Very grateful to be joined by Nathan from the Mendip National Landscapes team for an incredible fungi walk at A Patch Wilder yesterday. An ideal topic for Compassion week. @MendipHillsNL @SomersetWT
Fantastic wellbeing walk at Velvet Bottom nature reserve last week. Highlights included spending time noticing all the beautiful colourful things growing in the stone walls and appreciating the bright red hawthorn berries all around. @MendipHillsNL @SomersetWT
Creative Beauty session on the Mendip Hills today. Using our charcoal to make elder pencils and pigment. Then using them to make cards to give our friends and family over the coming month. Lots of wonderful wildlife at A Patch Wilder to inspire us. @MendipHillsNL @SomersetWT
Serene and sunny first session at A Patch Wilder yesterday. We learnt how to use our senses to ID trees so we could select appropriate twigs to make artists charcoal on the fire. We also spent some time being awed by this Dryad's Saddle fungus. @MendipHillsAONB @SomersetWT
A beautiful day in the Walled Garden at Alfoxton Park this week planting and learning about soil as we explored the pathway COMPASSION. Here's Amanda, who recently joined us to help run the sessions, getting her hands in the earth 🌎

Fantastic Compassion session on the Mendip Hills today. Thinking about what we all need as we come in to Winter - nourishment and shelter. We spent time making bird boxes, bird feeders and bug homes. @MendipHillsAONB @SomersetWT
An exciting discovery during our new SNC group on the Quantock Hills AONB....a huge parasol mushroom! Perfect for our nature pathway CONTACT. We also experimented with clay and nature imprints.
