Pray without ceasing.
The orientation toward God in a continuous state.
The connection.
The reliance.
Christ is the vine.
We are the branches.
The Father is the gardener.
The Holy Spirit is the advocate.
John 15
Abide in my love.
Keep my commandments.
The branch is connected to His love, the vine.
We make the effort to Him where He continuously makes the connection to us
The branch is attached to the vine to receive life.
Connection is given, the fruit we bear is the outcome
Christ did not give us a routine, a ritual, or a Sunday service to protect; categorizing & compartmentalizing into designated windows.
He gave a way of being
He gave a picture of a vine producing life in the branches continuously, not periodically.
Not a schedule, an identity.
Abiding is not a program.
Not sets of practices or boxes to check.
A branch isn’t following a routine in the vine, It simply just is in the vine; at all times.
God isn’t going off the clock.
There is no reason for us to either regardless of circumstance.
Stay connected.
Christ said “abide in me” the night before He was crucified.
John 15 - a private teaching given to 11 men.
The vine & its branches.
To stay. To dwell. To continue. The place where you live. Morning. Noon. Night. Connected.
Abiding is not a feeling…it is remaining.
Colossians 3:3
Resilience does not mean the struggle or the suffering never happened.
It means you had the faith, focus & trust in Christ the Lord & Savior that carried you through it.
Deuteronomy 31:8
Psalm 77:19
Psalm 119:105
Quiet growth is powerful.
There is no need to make healing into a public display.
The world does not require progress reports yet hinders it greatly by making failure/success into public displays of external validation
Allow the roots to strengthen before breaking the surface
As we walk we must remember who the Lord & Savior is…and who is not.
We cannot save them…so we need to step back & allow God do His work.
We are to be witnesses, love one another, & encourage & uplift one another.
Yet
Human efforts will never replace His divine work.
Acts 4:12
Proverbs 15:22
Proverbs 21:5
Not reckless, impulsive decisions dressed in spiritual language.
Use patience & steadiness.
Not decisions driven by feelings.
Make decisions anchored in scripture & wise counsel.
Thanksgiving b4 request.
Pray specific. At Peace.
Philippians 4:6-7
We must ask ourselves when dealing with the “did I make the right decision…”
What was the basis?
Our preference. Our understanding. Our analysis. Our self reliance.
Or
The word of God. Through prayer. Through scripture. Through the Holy Ghost. Through reliance in Him. Trust.
Peter walked on water. Trusting Jesus. Not overthinking.
Then
Mid step Peter looks at the wind & sees the high waves, & begins to sink.
His focus shifted from his eyes on Christ to the circumstances in the wind & waves.
His perspective dictated his stability…
Matthew 14:22-33
