β€œSomeone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath fastcompany.com/3062989/50-r…

If there are concerns about conflicts between hotel guests and people on bike the correct response is not to remove the bike lane, it's to upgrade it (as Seattle did on 2nd Ave in front of the Courtyard by Marriott).
Portland transportation director readies plan to remove key downtown protected bike lane - Sources say @CommMapps and newly hired @PBOTinfo director Millicent Williams are pushing to rollback the NW/SW Broadway bike lane to a previous design. bikeportland.org/2023/09/18/…

The United States has what is probably the wackiest political economies in the world around building transit, which is why we build such strange transit networks all the time. But Link Light Rail in Seattle? It might take the cake- it's a metro that uses LRVs. Listen below!

An awesome thread highlighting different ways to utilize urban spaces! Another notable feature in many of these pictures is the way in which tactile guideways are used throughout Tokyo - tactile paving originates in Japan, and it’s great to see how much it is used there.

New study of e-bike rebates finds that the average recipient reduced their COβ‚‚ emissions by 12-44 kg/month. That's roughly equivalent to 30-110 miles/month of driving. Not too shabby! doi.org/10.1016/j.tranpol.20…
