READY TO EARN YOUR WINGS? 🌦️ We’re looking for weather enthusiasts who want to help keep their communities informed! Southern Tennessee Weather and Duck River Electric Membership Corporation are partnering to launch WINGS, the Weather Information Network of Ground Spotters. This volunteer program will build a network of trained weather watchers across Duck River Electric’s service territory, and we’d love for YOU to express your interest! Radar can tell us a lot, but it can’t always show exactly what’s happening in your neighborhood. Your rainfall measurements, weather photos, and reports of hail, snow, flooding, or wind damage can help fill those gaps and give us a clearer picture of conditions on the ground. You don’t need professional weather experience! We’re looking for dependable DREMC members who enjoy weather, care about their neighbors, and are willing to complete a required training workshop and provide timely, accurate observations throughout the year. You’ll also need reliable access to a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Safety comes first: WINGS participants will never be expected to chase storms or put themselves in danger. Shelter first, report second. Selected participants will receive training (location and time TBD), a rain gauge, access to our WINGS Spotter Central reporting hub, and a FREE goodie bag full of WINGS swag! We want representation from communities throughout DREMC’s service territory. Participants will be selected jointly by DREMC and Southern Tennessee Weather, with geographic coverage helping guide selection. Interested in helping us keep an eye on the weather in YOUR community? RAIN RETURNS WEDNESDAY! 🌧️ It's been a while since we've had multiple storm systems move through Southern Middle Tennessee in such a short period of time, but that's exactly what we're getting this week! After finally picking up some much-needed rainfall over the weekend, we're already looking ahead to our next system, which could bring another round of beneficial rain to the area by Wednesday. Before the rain arrives, we'll begin noticing some changes in our weather on Tuesday as our next storm system approaches from the west. Clouds will gradually increase throughout the day, and southwest winds will become rather gusty, with gusts of 20–30 MPH possible. These southerly winds will help transport warmer, moisture-rich air northward from the Gulf, providing the moisture needed for our next round of rain and thunderstorms. So, while Tuesday should remain mostly dry, the increasing clouds and gusty winds will be some pretty good indications that changes are on the way! Things will really begin changing early Wednesday morning as a slow-moving and weakening squall line, or line of thunderstorms, approaches Southern Middle Tennessee from the west. By the time this line reaches our area, it should be gradually losing some of its organization and intensity, but that doesn't mean we won't see some decent rainfall! In fact, the slow movement of this system could allow several HOURS of beneficial rain to fall across the area. Right now, the main timeframe for widespread rainfall looks to be between 3 AM and NOON Wednesday, although scattered showers and thunderstorms could continue developing into the afternoon and evening. Most of the rainfall should be light to moderate in intensity, but some localized heavier downpours will certainly be possible, especially where thunderstorms develop. Now, I know the big question anytime we start talking about a line of thunderstorms is whether we need to be concerned about severe weather. At this point, the overall severe weather threat looks VERY LOW! I can't completely rule out a few stronger thunderstorms capable of producing gusty winds with lots of wind energy around, but widespread severe weather is NOT what I'm expecting with this system. Instead, one of the bigger things I'll be watching is the potential for localized flooding. Because this system will be moving rather slowly, some communities could experience multiple rounds of heavier rainfall, especially if thunderstorms repeatedly develop or move over the same locations. That could lead to some localized flooding concerns, although I'm not anticipating widespread flooding at this time. As for rainfall totals, my FIRST-CALL FORECAST is for a widespread 1–2 inches of rain across Southern Middle Tennessee. However, just like we saw with our weekend rain system, totals could vary considerably from one community to the next. Locations that experience heavier, slow-moving thunderstorms could pick up localized amounts approaching 3 inches, but I want to emphasize that I do NOT expect those higher totals to be widespread. And considering we just picked up some beneficial rainfall over the weekend, this next round will be adding even more moisture to the ground, which is certainly something we'll need to account for as we monitor any potential flooding concerns. All in all, get ready for a BREEZY Tuesday and a WET Wednesday! Our weather pattern is finally becoming more active after a rather lengthy stretch of quiet conditions, and it's nice to see some meaningful rainfall opportunities returning to Southern Middle Tennessee. While there are a few things we'll need to monitor, especially the potential for isolated stronger storms and localized flooding, the overall severe weather threat remains very low. I'll continue watching the latest weather data and fine-tuning the forecast as we get closer to Wednesday! _________________________________ 🏠 ADAMS ROOFING 🏠 This weather update is proudly sponsored by Adams Roofing, the official roofing company of Southern Tennessee Weather! 🦴 ACHES & PAINS FORECAST | NOVEMBER 2ND – 8TH Presented by Lamb Counseling Services WE'VE GOT A BIT OF A ROLLER COASTER AHEAD THIS WEEK! 🎢 Our weather pattern is becoming more active as we head into November, and that means quite a few ups and downs in our weekly Aches & Pains Forecast! We'll start Monday and Tuesday on a relatively quiet note, with fewer weather changes expected. That should keep pain levels near the GREEN or "LESS PAIN" category, which is certainly some good news! However, things begin changing Wednesday and Thursday as our next storm system and cool front move through Southern Middle Tennessee. As the system approaches, changes in barometric pressure, temperatures, and humidity could lead to increased discomfort for those sensitive to changing weather. Some people with arthritis, joint stiffness, chronic pain, or migraines may notice flare-ups during these transitions. Because of this, I've increased our forecast into the YELLOW or "SOME PAIN" category for Wednesday and Thursday. Thankfully, we're not expecting anything too extreme! By Friday and Saturday, things should settle down again as the system moves away and our weather becomes more stable. That means fewer pressure and temperature fluctuations, allowing pain levels to return to the GREEN category. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! Another potential storm system could approach by Sunday, bringing another increase in weather changes and possibly some additional aches and pains. We'll keep an eye on that one! 🌿 AND WHAT ABOUT OUR POLLEN FORECAST? We're officially putting our weekly pollen forecasts to bed until SPRING! As temperatures cool and daylight decreases, plants enter dormancy and release much less pollen. Ragweed season typically comes to an end following our first significant freezes, while tree and grass pollen are already near their seasonal lows. That doesn't mean allergies completely disappear! Mold spores and indoor allergens can still cause problems during the colder months, but outdoor pollen levels generally become much less troublesome. 🧡 LAMB COUNSELING SERVICES: Progress isn't always a straight line. SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE 7-DAY FORECAST: Our first week of November is shaping up to be an ACTIVE one! After finally getting some much-needed rainfall this weekend, we've got another round of rain to watch by the middle of the week, followed by some cooler temperatures heading into next weekend. And believe it or not, there may be even MORE rain on the horizon! First, we'll begin drying out from our current rain system as we head into Monday. However, don't expect the sunshine to return immediately! Mostly cloudy skies will stick around, and we could still see a few isolated patches of drizzle or light rain, especially before lunchtime. Otherwise, it'll be a fairly warm start to the workweek, with afternoon highs climbing into the lower 70s. Tuesday should bring some improvement as a few peeks of sunshine return and temperatures climb into the middle 70s. By Tuesday night, another storm system will begin approaching Southern Middle Tennessee from the west, bringing our next opportunity for widespread rainfall. Right now, I've got rain chances near 90% for Wednesday, with the greatest chances during the morning hours. However, the exact speed of this system still needs to be better defined, and that could certainly affect when the heaviest rainfall moves through. For now, I'd go ahead and PLAN ON RAIN for much of Wednesday! A few thunderstorms could also be mixed in, but as things stand right now, I'm not seeing enough atmospheric instability, or "storm fuel," to support a significant severe weather threat. That's certainly some good news, although we'll continue keeping an eye on the ingredients as the system gets closer. Behind Wednesday's system, a cold front will push through the region and bring a noticeable change in temperatures by Friday. After spending the first half of the week in the 70s, afternoon highs will fall back into the 60s as we head toward the upcoming weekend. We'll also see a mix of sunshine and clouds return as conditions become a little quieter. It won't exactly be cold by November standards, but it'll certainly feel a bit more like fall compared to some of the unusually warm afternoons we've experienced lately! And while the end of the week looks relatively quiet, I'm already keeping an eye on yet ANOTHER potential weather system for Sunday into Monday next week. We're still far enough out that confidence in the timing and details remains fairly low, so I wouldn't get too caught up in the specifics just yet. We're finally beginning to see a much more active weather pattern take shape across Southern Middle Tennessee... Multiple opportunities for rainfall, passing cold fronts, and some ups and downs in temperatures are all part of the forecast as we move deeper into November. And from the looks of things, this active pattern may be sticking around for a while! As always, I'll continue watching the latest weather data, especially regarding Wednesday's rain and storm potential, and keep you updated as the forecast becomes clearer. Have a great Sunday afternoon, everyone! ___________________________________________ 🪳 COOK'S PEST CONTROL 🐜 This forecast update is proudly sponsored by Cook's Pest Control, the South's most trusted name in pest control since 1928. As we head into the 11:00 AM hour, widespread light to moderate rain continues across much of the area. However, the back edge of the more widespread rainfall is beginning to push in from the west and is already moving through portions of Maury and Marshall Counties. Once this main area of rain moves through, we aren't necessarily DONE with the wet weather! Isolated to scattered patches of drizzle and light showers may continue through tonight and into Monday morning. However, the best opportunity for meaningful, accumulating rainfall is with the main batch of rain moving through right now.

Light rain showers are starting to move into our western areas at this time, especially along and west of Interstate 65. Right now, most activity is moving due north. However, as we go deeper into the night activity will start to move a little more easterly and overspread the entire area. The forecast still remains on track for a quarter to half inch of rain, with localized totals up to 1 inch possible.

DON’T FORGET TO “FALL BACK” TONIGHT! ⏰🍂 We’re getting an extra hour of sleep tonight, but there’s a catch… those EARLY sunsets are about to make their return! Daylight Saving Time officially comes to an end at 2:00 AM Sunday morning. That’s when our clocks will “fall back” one hour to 1:00 AM as we return to Standard Time. Most smartphones and other electronic devices will make the switch automatically, but you may need to adjust a few clocks around the house! And here’s where things get a little depressing for those of us who enjoy some evening daylight… 🌅 SUNSET TONIGHT: 5:51 PM 🌅 SUNSET TOMORROW: 4:50 PM That’s right! By this time tomorrow, the sun will be setting before 5:00 PM! While we’re not actually losing an entire hour of daylight overnight, shifting our clocks back means we’ll have more daylight in the mornings and LESS in the evenings. Winter is coming, folks! ALSO, A QUICK SAFETY REMINDER! The time change is a GREAT opportunity to check the batteries in your smoke detectors and NOAA Weather Radios. Make sure they’re in good working condition, test your alarms, and replace batteries as needed. Those few minutes of preparation could make a BIG difference when an emergency happens! ________________________ 💡 RED WHITE & GLOW 💡 This evening's weather update is proudly sponsored by Red White & Glow, your local destination for custom vehicle lighting and aftermarket accessory installation in Manchester, Tennessee! 🚗 Make your ride SHINE! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🎃 I don’t have any candy to give you today, but I have something much better, in my opinion... RAIN! I’ve shared several detailed discussions about this rain event over the past few days, so today I’m keeping it simple with the KEY MESSAGES: • THIS EVENING: Very light showers could begin arriving around sunset, roughly 6–8 PM. Activity should initially be isolated to widely scattered, with our far southern and western communities having the better chance of seeing a few raindrops. Most trick-or-treaters should stay dry, but a stray shower is possible! • OVERNIGHT INTO SUNDAY: Rain will become more widespread late tonight, especially after midnight, and continue through Sunday. Will it rain the entire time? No! There will be breaks, but I’m expecting more wet periods than dry ones. • RAIN INTENSITY: Most of this should be light to moderate, soaking rain. I’m not expecting especially heavy rainfall or flooding concerns, and the threat for “stormage” remains LOW! • ENDING: Showers should become much more isolated Sunday evening before we dry out heading into Monday. • RAINFALL TOTALS: I’ve nudged the upper end of the forecast up slightly, with totals of 0.25–1 inch expected through Sunday night. The better chance for amounts approaching 1 inch will be along and WEST of U.S. 231, including portions of Bedford, Lincoln, Marshall and Maury counties. Elsewhere, most totals should fall between a quarter and half an inch. • MORE RAIN AHEAD: Another system arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing another opportunity for widespread rainfall across the area! Enjoy your Halloween, and I'm hopeful Mother Nature will have a few TREATS for our rain gauges by tomorrow! 🌧️ ___________________________________ 🔧 ROSCOE BROWN PLUMBING 🔧 Today’s weather update is proudly sponsored by Roscoe Brown Plumbing, serving Middle Tennessee families since 1940! 💧 Don’t let plumbing problems rain on your parade! HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVE! 🎃 I decided to wait a little longer than usual to post my morning weather update so I could give the latest weather models time to run and get a better look at what we can expect this weekend. And I've got some GOOD NEWS for all you trick-or-treaters out there! Most of HALLOWEEN is looking DRY! We're expecting mostly cloudy skies throughout the day Saturday, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the 70s. As we head into trick-or-treating hours, temperatures will gradually fall into the upper 60s. Now, I can't completely rule out a stray, isolated shower here and there, but widespread rainfall is NOT looking likely during the evening hours. That's certainly some good news for everyone planning to get out and enjoy Halloween festivities! Unfortunately, our dry weather won't last much longer! More widespread rainfall is expected to move into Southern Middle Tennessee Sunday morning, with periods of rain continuing through the afternoon and evening. That doesn't mean it's going to rain the ENTIRE day, though! There will be some breaks along the way, but I do expect more wet periods than dry ones throughout Sunday. As for rainfall totals, my forecast has remained pretty steady over the past 24 hours. I'm still expecting most locations to pick up around 0.25–0.50 inches of rain, with some localized totals approaching 1 inch, especially WEST of Interstate 65. Interestingly enough, the latest weather models have been trending the heaviest rainfall farther west, which is EXACTLY why I kept my initial rainfall forecast a little more conservative earlier this week! I wanted to account for the possibility of these trends rather than jumping on some of those BIG model-generated rainfall totals like some have. Unfortunately, this isn't shaping up to be a major drought-busting rainfall event, but considering how dry we've been lately, I'll gladly take whatever Mother Nature wants to give us! A nice, soaking light to moderate rain certainly isn't going to get any complaints out of me! And believe it or not, we have an even BETTER opportunity for rainfall around the middle of next week, especially Tuesday into Wednesday. That system could bring higher rainfall totals across Southern Middle Tennessee, but I want to get through this weekend's rain before we dig too deeply into the details of that one. For now, enjoy your Halloween festivities, keep an umbrella handy for Sunday, and stay tuned for more updates as we head into what could be a fairly active start to November! 🎃 ___________________________________________________ 💦 CLEARWATER POOL & SPA 💦 Today's weather update is proudly sponsored by Clearwater Pool & Spa, your local experts in pools, hot tubs, and everything in between! 😱 CLOSING YOUR POOL CAN BE SCARY! FIRST LOOK AT RAINFALL TOTALS FOR THIS WEEKEND! 🌧️ But first, let's talk about the TOASTY day we have ahead! We're looking at mostly sunny skies with afternoon highs climbing into the upper 70s and lower 80s for most of us OFF the Cumberland Plateau. For those of you living the "high life" up on the Plateau, temperatures should stay in the lower 70s. Our average high for October 29th is around 68 degrees, so we're running a good 10–12 degrees ABOVE NORMAL in many locations. A little on the toasty side for sure! NOW, LET'S TALK ABOUT SOME MUCH-NEEDED RAIN! We're FINALLY getting close enough to our first rain system in more than two weeks that we can begin discussing potential rainfall totals! That's been the BIG question lately, and I've got some good news... along with a little bit of a reality check. Remember earlier this week when I said we needed to "pump the brakes" on some of those model-generated rainfall maps showing widespread totals of 2–3+ inches? THIS is exactly why! Things change. They ALWAYS do! And unfortunately, if you were getting your hopes up for a BIG soaking rain this weekend based on some of those maps being shared around, you might want to lower those expectations just a bit. MY FIRST CALL FORECAST shows widespread rainfall totals of around 0.25–0.50 inches across Southern Middle Tennessee through Sunday night. A few locations COULD pick up as much as an inch, especially if some heavier pockets of rain develop. However, with limited instability (storm fuel) available and thunderstorms looking pretty unlikely, I'm leaning more toward a nice, steady, moderate rain for most of us rather than widespread heavy downpours. Now, before you get too disappointed, THERE IS STILL HOPE! I'm actually becoming more encouraged about a SECOND, potentially more impressive rain system heading our way NEXT WEEK! That system could bring some better rainfall totals to complement whatever we manage to pick up this weekend. And remember, we're still JUST outside that sweet spot for some of our more reliable short-range weather models, so adjustments to these totals may still be needed! WHAT ABOUT HALLOWEEN? 🎃 As of right now, I'm still feeling pretty good about most Halloween activities, especially those taking place BEFORE 9 PM Saturday. Rain chances will gradually increase Saturday evening and overnight, with our southern and western counties likely seeing rain FIRST and our northern and eastern counties seeing it LAST. I'm continuing to watch for any shifts toward an earlier arrival, so don't completely let your guard down just yet! Sunday, on the other hand, is looking QUITE rainy as we officially "fall back" into Central Standard Time! And hey, look at the bright side... we get an extra hour of sleep AND some much-needed rainfall! That's a win-win, right? RIGHT?! 😂 I'll continue fine-tuning both the rainfall totals and Halloween timing as new weather data comes in. Stay tuned! ___________________________________________ 🔥 REDD’S HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING This weather update is proudly sponsored by Redd’s Heating & Air Conditioning — the official heating and air conditioning company of Southern Tennessee Weather!
