On this day in 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed. The ADA is a landmark civil rights law fought for and won by disabled activists who demand dignity, access, and justice.
We honor this day by continuing the struggle for true accessibility, inclusion, and liberation for all.

The California Budget & Policy Center released a short fact sheet about how people with disabilities will be impacted by cuts to Medi-Cal and other services under the umbrella. Their findings come from an analysis based on an American Community Survey (ACS). DRC's Sabrina Epstein and Vivian Haun lent a hand and consulted on this analysis. Through these findings we have learned in 2023, 2 in 5 Californians with a disability receive health care coverage through Medi-Cal.

Findings like these are incredibly important to emphasize the need for programs like Medi-Cal, In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), and more. These programs give people, especially those living with disabilities, an essential lifeline to the care they need. Protecting Medi-Cal is how we take care of one another and ensure people receive the care they need, where they need.
Thank you to the California Budget & Policy Center for their vital work and collaboration with us.
