HAPPENING NOW: We're joining fellow @SEIU members from across the region, @CA_WFP, and community allies to rally outside our members' McDonald's in San Jose and calling out industry efforts for funding a PAC to the sum of $800,000 in support of a BoS candidate.

This is outrageous. But not surprising. Fast food bosses have been throwing out numbers indicating that CA workers getting a minimum wage bump to $20/hr. has forced layoffs. The numbers are completely fake. Jobs in the industry have only gone up since the raise. #UnionsForAll

Fast food corporations really want you to be mad that workers in their industry now have a $20/hr minimum wage in California. They want your anger so much that they're lying to you about the results of raising the wage.

Today fast food workers as well as our allies in labor and our communities are at San Jose City Hall to demand Council supports the #FastFoodFairWork Law, creating a path for essential Know Your Rights Trainings and Paid Time Off. The state isn’t going to solve these issues.

Our campaign director & #FastFoodCouncil councilwoman Maria Maldonado talks about the importance of a #FastFoodFairWork Ordinance for not just us, but our families & our community. We won't allow paid lobbyists by greedy bosses & global corporations to decide our city's agenda!

"I don't understand why these corps and wealthy fast food business owners and their lobbyists are afraid of workers knowing their rights. The #FastFoodCouncil cannot legally address the issues the workers are asking for today." Read more in @SJSpotlight: sanjosespotlight.com/silver-… – at San Jose, CA

Amazing at a San Jose City Council meeting, immigrant women of @CAFastFoodUnion bare their souls about the troubling conditions in the industry, describing miscarriages at work and horrendous conditions and City Councilmembers just stare at their phones, don’t make eye contact.

"I'm talking about the 13,000 San Jose fast food workers. The industry has hired 4 of the largest contract lobby firms in the city, all that to try to scare you away from thinking about working with workers to know their rights." @JRBinSV @SVRising – at San Jose, CA
