reintroducing Leash. the full flow Last night I gave an AI agent $20 and a web page that told it to send everything to a scammer. It paid the invoice it was supposed to pay, 10 cents, and the contract threw out the rest. Then I hit it with everything I could think of. A forged account history. A scammer registered yesterday. A name one letter off from someone it trusts. A payment split into small pieces. A single payment over the cap. Ten attacks, ten refusals, each one a transaction you can open. $0.00 moved. None of that was the model being careful. The model was fooled every time. The money stayed because the rules are not in the prompt. Leash is a spending account for AI agents on NEAR, and I built it at NEAR HACKATHON. Here is the whole trick. The agent never holds your key. It holds a NEAR function-call key, which is a thing @NEARProtocol has had since day one: a key that can only call the methods you name on the contract you name. The Leash key can say pay, request and ask_more. That is the complete list. Move USDC directly, add a key, loosen its own limit: the protocol refuses before a line of my code runs. The contract takes it from there. You give each agent a daily cap, a per-payment cap, a list of who it may pay, a cooldown and an expiry. Inside that, it pays on its own and your chat shows the receipt. Outside it, the payment parks. Parked is where your phone comes in. The request arrives on my iPhone a few seconds later. I read it, Face ID, done. If I am not sure, I deny it from the Lock Screen without unlocking anything. If the agent genuinely needs more for a job, it does not fail silently and it does not try again smaller. It asks, with a reason, and I can give it a raise for a while. Before any first payment to a stranger, the agent also gets the facts: how old the account is, whether its code changed this week, whether the name looks like someone I already pay, and whether another Leash owner reported it. Two reports and it is refused for everyone. Revoke deletes the key. Pause stops every agent at once. Every payment, refusal and approval is on chain, and anyone can read my dashboard. It plugs into what you already use. One line for Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. One tap in the Claude app, where the payment card shows up right in the chat. Agents can pay APIs per request too, x402 style, no API key. All of it is open source and running on NEAR testnet. The attack above runs live on the site with a real model, and the button is yours to press. leash.frankolien.com github.com/frankolien/leash I would love to hear what you would want an agent to be allowed to buy without asking you. That line is the whole product. #NEARHackathon @NearLegion @NearBuilders
..building Leash for @NEARProtocol hackathon. agents can now book, buy and pay today that means handing them your card or a private key and hoping the prompt holds leash gives each agent its own key with a daily limit, a per-payment limit and a list of who it may pay. @NEARProtocol enforces it. above the limit, it asks you. leash.frankolien.com

..building a tiny village in the sky where every villager is an AI agent with its own wallet. they farm, run out of money, and trade with each other. If one tries to overpay, its spending rules stop the deal. you just watch, no wallet popups built for the @NEARProtocol hackathon.

Replying to @arc @wirexapp
Spend it, send it, settle it is the right order of priorities. The infrastructure wins when the user remembers the payment, not the chain mechanics behind it.

Stablecoins are already fast. The awkward part is making people choose a network, find gas, copy 42 characters, then act calm while checking the first six and last six. Recourse turns that into: pick a name, enter dollars, send. The future of money needs fewer rituals.

Not every payment should leave right now. Write a cheque. Send it by name. Let them cash it later. Two keys sign. @arc settles. Try Recourse on iPhone ↓ testflight.apple.com/join/rW…

..a few years ago, I was just learning flutter, building random projects and hoping all the hours I spent coding would eventually mean something. Then I found rust. I kept learning, kept building, joined hackathons, worked on SDKs, backends, mobile apps and projects nobody ever saw. slowly, those skills started turning into real opportunities. today, I bought myself an iPhone 6s. It’s just a phone, but to me it’s a small reminder that all those hours are actually adding up. Still a long way to go. Thank you, Rust & Flutter. 🦀💙
