We are excited to help set-up tomorrow's #DelmarvaSWMS19 symposium! Looking forward to meeting our fellow hosts and friends from @hpl_swms and @SWMS_UD! Let's do this!! 😀👍 @SWMStweets #scicomm #womeninstem

We will also be hearing from Dr. Stephanie Schollaert Uz, Applied Sciences Manager at the @NASAGoddard Space Flight Center during the #DelmarvaSWMS19 Symposium. We will learn about her career in the @NASAEarth Sciences Division and what it's like working for the federal gov't.
A few days late but MY FIRST PUBLICATION IS OUT! We took another look at a long-standing hypothesis describing the mechanisms driving biological hotspots in the #WAP and things aren't what they seem. 😉 Check it out here: rdcu.be/bQd5k #JGROceans #AGUpubs @theAGU
We have an amazing panel of marine scientists from various career levels lined up for the 2019 Delmarva SWMS Symposium. We will be highlighting them throughout the next couple weeks. Spots are still open to register! usmf.org/events/divingdeep/

Sampling in progress at our fourth and final site of the day! Here’s a shot of the squeegeeing in action! #fieldwork #WomenInSTEM #chemicaloceanography
1 station down, 3 to go! We sample the SML by dipping a glass plate into the water (the SML is sticky, and clings to the glass) then squeegee the sample into a bottle! Thanks @foramfriday for doing the hard part - dipping the plate! #WomenInSTEM #fieldwork

But what is the SML? It’s a thin (around the thickness of a strand of hair, or less) later that sits on top of the water, and it helps regulate exchanges aross the air-sea interface! I’m interested in what kinds of organic matter is in the SML, and what controls its composition.

Good morning! I’m Nicole Coffey (@ChemNicoleOcean) and I’ll be showing you the wonderful world of surface microlayer (SML) sampling today on my #socialmediatakeover ! Featuring Emily Kaiser (@foramfriday) and Alina Ebling! #fieldwork #WomenInSTEM #chemicaloceanography
Public registration for the Delmarva SWMS Symposium begins today! usmf.org/events/divingdeep/ #SWMS #SciComm #WomeninSTEM

Hi there! I’m Emily Kaiser (@foramfriday) and I’m taking over the UD SWMS accounts for the next few days. I am an oceanography masters student studying paleoceanography. Stay tuned to hear more about my research and about what fossils can tell us about past (and future) climates.

This picture makes me laugh — everyone followed right behind me so that I would gather up the ticks. But, I was tick free!!
