We are at a true turning point for people and planet.
I urge all countries, especially G20 members, to commit to carbon neutrally before 2050, and to submit more ambitious #ClimateAction strategies ahead of #COP26.

Our evapotranspiration study with @MaxRPiana of the US Forest Service is nearly online! We'll be studying the evapotranspiration performance of hybrid poplar trees vs black eyed susans vs bare soil to help us understand the stormwater capture capacity of poplar trees!
A fresh start at our research site on campus! We've just planted fast growing Hybrid Poplar trees and Black Eyed Susans to compare evapotranspiration rates between the two plant types and compared to bare soil. Next step: installing @METER_Group TEROS 12 soil moisture sensors

Earlier today, this was just a pole. Now it's a solar powered weather station! We've been monitoring environmental conditions and stormwater flows at this site for 10 years. After some time offline, it's almost ready to start collecting data again!
What is the pandemic teaching us about confronting Climate Change? @FAMontalto tells us:

"Billions have accepted a radical change to their lives, virtually overnight and amid profound uncertainty, to slow coronavirus." Kinda makes you think what we could do for climate change, huh? Read this piece @AmSciMag by my cuz @SWRE_lab @FAMontalto bit.ly/3dBg0mK
As #climatechange intensifies, the whole notion of which species belong where is being upended. Anthropologist @eben_kirksey thinks biologists need to revise traditional ideas about how to manage these novel ecosystems @SAPIENS_org
