Happy International Day of the Midwife! 💙
We want to thank London’s midwives, maternity support workers and student midwives for bringing life into the world and going the extra mile to care for women and birthing people across the capital.

We are hearing from Laura Rose from LGBT Mummies, sharing her experience of what it is like for a lesbian couple to go through pregnancy.
Sad to hear that even in 2023 they are still facing some discrimination and biases, 11 years into their parenthood journey #MMELdn23

Such an important question… How easy was it to access interpreting services within maternity in the below department? ⬇️

Just hearing now from the amazing @katebrintworth on sadly her last day as London Region Chief Midwife.
Kate has done so much to reduce inequalities in maternity and will be missed by us all, but she is going to an absolutely brilliant job as the new CMO of England ❤️ #MMELdn23

So so pleased with our new communication cards for women/birthing people with limited English. These are going out to all maternity units across London.
Not a replacement for an interpreter but an additional tool to support whilst an interpreter is being sourced.
