Today is my last day as the athletic trainer for Hutch High. I have really enjoyed the last 6 years with the Salthawks. I am moving on to a clinic position with Dr Severud at Alliance Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Megan Yoder is taking over and will do an outstanding job at HHS

Creatine💭:
8oz pork🐷, fish🐟, or beef🐮provide 1g creatine. If athletes consume 1# meat, fish, poultry over the course of☝🏻day, supplementation isn’t needed. Once💪🏻reach saturation point w creatine, thru food or supplement, the muscle can’t store more & excess is excreted.

For every Olympian who was a child phenom, there are dozens of Olympians and pro athletes who were well-rounded athletes - many of whom surged well into their teenage years.

The truth is that the overwhelming majority of athletes who are pushed to specialize early don't pan out. They get hurt, burned out, & settle back to the mean. Then they wind up with crappy relationships with their parents and youth sport coaches.
Salthawk Sports Med retweeted
Disappointing to see so many TV features on how certain Olympians were "destined for greatness" from a young age. Completely undermines long-term athletic development approaches, discourages athletes from working hard to become late bloomers, and encourages early specialization.

How asinine would it sound if your kid’s math teacher told him at 15 that he should only study math? Or his English teacher told him to only study English? If that doesn’t make any sense, then why does telling him to specialize in one sport? Athletes should play multiple sports!
