The UK averages 159 rainy days a year and ranks fourth in Europe for rainfall volume. The last major reservoir was finished in 1992. Since 2017, the privatised water companies have sold off at least 35 reservoirs and bulk storage sites. The government have now been warned that “Day Zero” – empty reservoirs – could arrive before Christmas.
We are a damp island that somehow managed to privatise the rain, sell off the storage and then act surprised when the taps run dry. The corporations took the infrastructures, paid the dividends and left us with a hosepipe ban and a warning about water rationing at Christmas.
And meanwhile, successive governments let this happen while enabling enormous data centres to guzzle up huge amounts of water and energy
Yet another example of the UK being turned into a corporation asset grab at the public’s expense. This is not just government negligence. It was a choice.

You should be cheering nearly as much for Lula's victory in Brazil as you would for Trump's death.
Because Trump's loss in Brazil will halt his plans to completely control the Americas for good.

HIGHLANDS
Crap once a week postal service
Alex Salmond wanted to take ownership of the Royal Mail this side of the Border to help avoid London running a poor service to the Highlands, but UKGov intervened.
Councillors say household postal deliveries in many parts of the Highlands have fallen to as little as once a week.
They said Royal Mail provided a vital service but it had become "infrequent" and letters from the NHS, banks and solicitors were arriving late.
The group of nine councillors want Highland Council to raise their concerns with Royal Mail bosses. The company has previously said it worked to deliver all items within their expected time frames - the usual excuse.
The consequences can be extremely serious, including missed medical appointments, late correspondence from banks, solicitors, as well as personal letters and cards from family and friends arriving late."
Last month, Royal Mail said it was recruiting to fill 12 vacancies at its Inverness delivery office. Early this month, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) claimed postal staff quitting Royal Mail had gone up since the company introduced a new delivery system earlier this year.

Come on, England, let us see the written proof that you did not annex Scotland in the early 1700s using threats of force after boycotting our economy, investment and major ports and paying off Scottish traitors with land, property, silver and gold.

Balgove Larder. Butchery. One of the best in Scotland. All the meat is sourced from the farm connected to the farm shop. A great local independent business in St Andrews, North East Fife. 🥩

You scratch your head. A dozen years on from the currency farrago of 2014, an exposing gaffe for which YES took a severe Britstate beating, and flying squarely in the face of all expert advice on the indispensability of a central bank issuing its own currency, John Swinney arrives at this. You might weep for the timidity of it:
“And always keep a-hold of Nurse
For fear of finding something worse.”
– Hilaire Belloc’s cautionary tale: “Jim, Who ran away from his Nurse, and was eaten by a Lion”.
Even when there IS nothing worse. Or more foolish. Or more referendum-sabotaging. Although, of course, you might ask 'what referendum?' It's belt and braces scuppering of the scuppered.
Many are wondering if John Swinney is deliberately trying to scupper Scotland’s chances of becoming independent after insisting Scotland will continue to use the English pound, widely seen as the main reason Scotland lost the last referendum. #ScottishCurrency #JohnSwinney #SNP

You mean the English East India Company of the English empire which was fully applying English law? Everything you say as an English colonial propaganda account just confirms Scotland's an English colony. Your English colonial lies are being exposed globally.

Uncritical support for the state of Israel will now be compulsory teaching in English and Welsh schools.
While Israel commits genocide.
This Labour Friends of Israel govt is truly dangerous.

Recognise this, fellow Scots - Welsh, Irish? This is why we must go beyond the independence of a state to the liberation of a people, a nation and our own minds.
They taught the colonized child to see the world through the colonizer’s eyes.
And then, when the colonized child grew up and looked through those eyes and saw themselves...
They saw what the colonizer saw.
"Backward." "Primitive." "In need of development." Behind on a timeline whose destination was someone else’s present.
This is the wound that outlasts the empire.
The guns go. The administrators go. The flags come down.
But the curriculum stays in the mind.
The habit of measuring yourself against a standard that was designed without you.
The reflex of looking at your own culture and asking, involuntarily, what the colonizer would think of it.
The deep, persistent, half-conscious belief that modernity is something you are still catching up to rather than something you were always building in your own way.
This is why independence was necessary but not sufficient.
You can remove the occupier without removing the occupation of the mind.
Decolonizing the curriculum was not a symbolic act.
It was the harder and more fundamental liberation.
The liberation of the internal landscape.
The recovery of the right to know what you knew before they told you it didn’t count.

What Andy doesn’t mention is that the UK EEZ would cease to exist if Scotland was an independent self governing country. Here’s the Scottish EEZ mapped. Note the “stolen” waters partitioned by Blair and Dewar before devolution.
This is the official map of Scotlands territorial waters (dark blue 12 mile limit) and the UK EEZ (yellow boundary). There is virtually no oil & gas in Scotlands territorial waters (as I recall maybe one small gas(?) field off the coast of Moray). Less than 1% of oil and gas is in Scotlands territorial waters.
